Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi narrowly escaped a serious accident on Tuesday at IGI Airport as the plane he was travelling in was allowed to land on an airstrip where another aircraft was stationed. The pilots were asked by the controllers to abort landing at the last moment. According to reports, he was returning to Delhi from Rae Bareli in his private jet when the incident occurred. With an expectation that the aircraft on the runway would take off before the landing, the air traffic controller gave the permission to land. However, the aircraft didn't take off prompting the controllers to abort the landing at the last minute. Sources say it was really a close shave. The DGCA has ordered probe in the incident.
