Pikmin 3 review. Shop CGR shirts & mugs! Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Pikmin 3 for the Nintendo Wii U developed and published by Nintendo. After nearly a decade of inactivity, the Pikmin have returned to the surface. Released in 2013, Pikmin 3 takes one of the best reasons to own a GameCube and makes it one of the best reasons to own a Wii U. Players control three brave space explorers who have left their home planet in search of food. They happen upon—or crash upon—the strange world of PNF-404, a place where tiny little creatures pop up from the ground like multicolored popcorn. Those are the Pikmin, and it turns out they're a big help when you're lost in space. Pikmin 3 is a real-time strategy game in which you control up to a hundred Pikmin between split into three groups, multitasking and switching between them on the fly. Each type of Pikmin has a different attribute or ability, which forces players to think about which Pikmin they send to do which jobs. Captain Charlie, Alph and Brittany may have the help of the Pikmin, but they still need to find their ship's key to get home, as well as fruit to save their starving people. Will they make it? It's up to you and your GamePad in Pikmin 3. This video review features video gameplay footage of Pikmin 3 for the Nintendo Wii U and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
