The Spanish-language movie Instructions Not Included features Eugenio Derbez as Valentin, a bachelor in Acapulco who gets a visit by a woman claiming to be his baby mama, leaving Derbez with the baby. Even though the movie didn’t get the Hollywood treatment when it came to promotion, Derbez relied mostly on social media for his personal promotion, and it packed 347 theaters in California and Texas, grossing over $10 million and putting it in the top five grossing movies up against The Butler and Planes. Though the film is mostly in Spanish, Derbez tells the Associated Press that he thought of the movie as his crossover to conquer the Anglo market, adding that he wanted to do a moving film that touched the heart.
