Five days later she was found a half a mile away. While she was away, her owner Eloise was devastated.Following the disappearance, a neighbor reported a Thursday sighting in the alley near the house from which Aston had escaped. After that tip, the trail went cold for several days.By Sunday, Eloise’s father called the police to report the missing pet. Thankfully, the police called back on Monday – five days after Aston had gone rogue - and reported that she had been found about a half a mile away. One of the neighborhood kids had spotted him. She told her family about her discovery and they proceeded to contact area vets to see if they had any info about the tortoise’s origins. They had no luck, but with the help of a local “expert” and the police Aston was returned to his owner. After the happy reunion, Eloise’s father realized that the tortoise must have gotten out through a gap in the back yard fence.
