Seaweed Rain In UK - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.Good ole’ seaweed, something we usually encounter during our beach-going summer months. Sure it’s slimy and arguably gross, but tolerable in a beach setting. For residents in Berkeley, UK, a recent incident was something entirely different. After a patch of stormy weather, occupants on a suburban street discovered their yards, homes and vehicles covered in seaweed. Weather officials speculate the seaweed was carried from a beach nearly two dozen miles away after a tornado. A local resident says, “I’ve heard stories of fish being picked up and dumped by storms but never seaweed. I was just so surprised. It’s a shame really because had it have been fish we could have made a tasty dish with it but you can’t really do the same with seaweed.” In 2010, residents in a small Australian town also experienced something bizarre. Hundreds of fish began falling, seemingly from the sky, appearing like rain. The loads of them were reported to have been still alive, prior to landing on the ground.
