Lent invites us to reflect on charity. These were the words of the Pope as he greeted the Circolo San Pietro today in the Vatican. He said concern for our brothers and sisters means opening our eyes to their needs, overcoming that hardness of heart which makes us blind to others' suffering. The Pope also said, although modern culture seems to have lost a sense of good and evil, we must reaffirm that goodness exists and it triumphs. Pope Benedict XVI also praised the generous charities of the "Circle of Saint Peter", including a soup kitchen, a hospice facility for the terminally ill and their families, as well support for the missionary efforts in Laos.
