Visit for the latest sustainability and CSR headlines. Citgo's headquarters building in Houston has been awarded LEED Gold Certification for an Existing Building by the US Green Building Council. Citgo implemented many green retrofits in the areas of energy efficiency, water usage, and construction materials to earn the sustainability award. The Leadership in Energy and Environment Design ratings are given out for sustainable improvements in existing structures as well as for new buildings. The Conference Board's study, "The 2011 Corporate Contributions Report," details results from a survey of 139 US-based corporations, and compares data from 2011 against a 2008 benchmark. Among the findings are that 25 companies with philanthropic budgets of $50 million dollars or more gave 83 percent of total contributions in 2010, and the pharmaceutical sector outpaced all other industry categories in giving, with a median amount of $10000 dollars per worldwide employee, primarily due to a high level of non-cash contributions.
