Nadeem Yaqub, Urdu VoA News, Washington. Towards the end of last month the world population reached a milestone: it reached 7 billion mark. Experts says the rapid increase in population has resulted in huge challenges around the globe. Dr David Lam of Population Studies Center, University of Michigan, says the population increase has put pressure on resources but the world has done amazingly good job of meeting those challenges and cited world food production as an example which has increased faster than population. (INT) Jose Meguel Guzman, UN Population Fund representative, says many poor countries still have high birth rates due to lack of reproductive health facilities. He says providing education and health facilities to young people is the way to meet the challenges ahead. (INT)
