Benedict XVI left Germany Sunday evening, at the end of his third apostolic journey, "confident about the future of Christianity" in his homeland. In the farewell ceremony at the airport of Lahr, German President Christian Wulff called the trip an event that has "given hope and built bridges." The Pope recalled the main events of his 4 days in Germany, from his speech to the German Parliament on the intellectual foundations of the state to ecumenical meetings which represented "one of the central points of the journey."
