An excellent example of an 'industrial', a short silent film showing lace-making processes in a huge Nottingham factory with intertitles explaining the various stages of lace production. Though many of the terms will be unfamiliar to the lay viewer, it is fascinating to see the vast industrial machines producing the most delicate of lace and the teams of women finishing and mending by hand. From the design, pattern-making and punching to the final scenes of a well-to-do bride at her 'lace wedding' on a bleak, wet day in late 1920s Nottingham, this is a graphic reminder that this once great industry is as much a part of Nottingham's heritage as Robin Hood.
