As we make more and more transitions to a highly mobile and connected world, it seems like maps are all the rage (again).

If you were somewhat surprised that Avinash Kaushik (author of Web Analytics - An Hour A Day and Web Analytics 2.0, Blogger at Occam's Razor and Analytics Evangelist for Google) declared that "maps" have got him most excited at work these days (for the full conversation with Kaushik, please go here: SPOS #189 - Avinash Kaushik With His Hair On Fire), then you may even be more surprised by what Microsoft has been rolling out with with Bing Maps (new and improved with augmented reality!). At this week's TED 2010 conference, Blaise Aguera y Arcas (an architect at Microsoft Live Labs, the architect of Seadragon and the co-creator of Photosynth) demoed some of the latest developments... watch this: Blaise Aguera y Arcas demos augmented-reality maps.

(special hat-tip to TED for publishing these talks as the conference was still underway).
