It's been a year since my proverbial head bump on the bathroom sink causing a vision of the flux capacitor (a la Doc of Back to the Future). Only my head bump was a day with no customers at the restaurant and my flux capacitor was Wheezy Waiter. The videos of Core77's Offsite event, Design, Wit, and the Creative Act, are up! After a brief introduction by Allan Chochinov, Ze Frank takes the stage at Core77's Offsite Event at the Art Directors Club in New York City: Design, Wit, and the Creative Act. In this video, Ze kicks off the day by introducing Marcel Duchamp's The Creative Act, and breaking down the triad of players in the metaphoric room--here, Designer, Object, and Audience--talking about the interrelationships and dynamics between the three. "What is the designer's relationship to wit?" "How does this translate to the actual process of making things?" "As you're designing things, do you have a proto-audience member in your mind that you're having a conversation with?" And finally, "What happens when the audience takes control of a piece--completely misinterprets it?" All of these juicy questions and more in this wonderful start to a provocative (and amusing) day.

We could lie about our ages and customize our pages I think this is the first time I saw a Ze Frank movie without wondering all the time what the heck is he talking about. I guess I came too late to the show. Still, this video for his song, featuring animation by Alyssa Timon, is delightful. A different version can be found here. And then make the video. I wish I had used garage band, it would have been a lot easier. Also, I need a camera other than my MacBook's iSight? Oh well. Maybe ze will like it! Hooray! FOR A BETTER PLAYBACK (QUICKTIME): CLICK HEREduration: 03:19 The screenwriters of Hollywood are on strike (NEW YORK TIMES ARTICLE) and suddenly, without warning, Ze Frank (earlier on UV - CLICK HERE) makes a reappearance on his Blip.tv feed. Reappearance? Since Ze left the building on last 17th of March it was rather quiet around him (except for a keynote here and there) - leaving hundreds of thousands sobbing followers wondering what to do else in life. There was the usual gossip - since he signed a contract in Hollywood - as to where and how he would make a restart.
