If the company creates the jobs agreed upon and sustains them for nine years the agreement could mean up to $8.5 million in benefits for Mack Trucks. The grant was made possible by a state Job Developmental Grant award. The new jobs will include information technology, parts logistics and product development positions. The grants are awarded only to new and expanding businesses and industrial projects whose benefits exceed the costs to the state and would not be undertaken in North Carolina without the grant, Easley's office said. Mack Trucks sister company is Volvo Trucks North America. Both are members of Sweden based Volvo Group.
