from David Lee King's Videoblog June 13, 2008
Me, walking around the mountains of Phoenix, AZ while waiting for the SuperShuttle. This video came out ok - I m realizing I almost ALWAYS forget to pause after I hit the record button, between takes, if I know I goofed up and need to start again.

from A Geek in China June 05, 2008
While in Shanghai China recognized the victims of the Sichuan earthquake with a nationwide 3 minutes of silence. At the time I was on a subway, everyone on the subway stopped, stood silently and waited until the 3 minutes passed.

huangzhou_developer_conference.mp4
from A Geek in China June 05, 2008
May 24, 2008 I attended the 2nd annual developers conference in Huangzhou. I have to say that I was quite impressed with the line up of speakers and with the quality of the presentations. I was always extremely interested to compare how I, a big white westerner, and the local Chinese students interacted within the sessions. Or maybe I should say that lack of interaction within the sessions. I was extremely excited to ask questions, to probe deeper and to really get at the "meat" of the matter(s). The Chinese students seemed bored and also as if they knew all the answers or maybe they just didn't care. I was cool to attend and to see how the local developers interact and to watch this ecosystem grow. In 10 years (or less, according to the Chinese government) the world is going to see a lot more highly skilled, very talented developers hit the industry.

Solar Scanner
from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) May 18, 2008
The year is 2082 and man travels regularly between the planets in the Hyper-H fleet of transport and passenger ships. In this animation we visualize one of the important scientific systems among the many which make up the science labs of the Hyper-H fleet. In this panel, we see the computer monitoring the Sun for solar radiation caused by solar flares and coronal mass ejections. http://www.dvdmenubacks.com

Fingerprint Scanner
from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) May 18, 2008
In the year 2082 communication is done almost entirely using light and holographic displays. Data travels by light through numerous displays which humans have evolved, with the aid of bio-hardware, to read. This animation depicts one such communication - the fingerprint scanner. Used by law enforcement, medical and other agencies these biometric fingerprint scanners can control access to anything with virtually unbreakable quantum encryption or provide a complete life history on anyone whose fingerprint it reads. http://www.dvdmenubacks.com

Authors@Google: Ken Wells
from YouTube :: Videos by AtGoogleTalks May 07, 2008
The Authors@Google program was pleased to welcome Ken Wells to discuss about his book "Travels With Barley: The Quest for the Perfect Beer Joint". About the Author: Ken Wells is a senior writer and features editor for page one of The Wall Street Journal. In 1982, he was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for The Miami Herald. He's written five books and loves beer. He lives with his family outside Manhattan. About the Book: This account of journeys through the soft beer belly of America exudes that expansive happiness that springs from a guy who is truly enjoying his bottle of brew. Wells, a Wall Street Journal reporter, has crisscrossed the U.S., visiting breweries and bars to find out just what makes beer the nation's leading adult beverage. In the wake of the "lager wars" that drove so many midsize breweries to extinction in the late twentieth century, Wells finds newly prospering microbreweries. He visits the deceptively down-market Flora-Bama Lounge on the Gulf Coast to find out how it maintains its record consumption levels. He travels the length of the Mississippi to assess the heartland's appetite for brewskis. Wells delves into the history of the giant breweries such as Anheuser-Busch with its trademark Clydesdale draft horses and Miller with its phenomenally successful campaign to encourage that quaffing of "light" beer. As one would expect from a reporter of his background, Wells focuses his eye less flatteringly on the economic, social, and political role of beer, whose powerful lobbyists jealously guard industry prerogatives. This event took place on April 10, 2008 at the Google NYC office. Author: AtGoogleTalks Keywords: Beer Travels With Barley Craft Hops Ken Wells Added: May 7, 2008

Coming down off the great wall
from A Geek in China May 03, 2008
After a long, hard day of climbing the Great Wall you really don't want to climb back down. Fortunately Chinese people are incredibly smart. They setup an "Inertia Ropeway" which allows you to get down from the Great Wall with the greatest of ease.

Simatai Great wall
from A Geek in China May 03, 2008
I've been attending a small private Chinese language school here in Beijing in an attempt to improve my Mandarin language skills; which are currently at the baby talk level. The school took a trip out to the Simatai section of the great wall. Previously I had only visited badaling so it was nice to see a different part of the wall, especially one that is less touristy.

Beijing Pollution
from A Geek in China May 03, 2008
I shot this video several weeks ago and after I shot it the air cleared up for a few days and then got worse again. The last two days the SEPA index has been over 100. Fortunately today the rains and wind came to wash and blow away all of the pollution! yay!
