November 22-24 2008 Wwoof?My very first Wwoof host, a natural living school in the heart of Japan, Nagano, a warm welcome with lovely traditional food. Yoshida, Seiko & Yuto became my family away from home. Next day I started to look for my inner Maki Man, chopping firewood in a beautiful mountain area. Yuto became my teacher in learning the steady easy flow of being in work instead of the Western way of working towards results. The music is from a female friend I met that day.. Otomatea has been around for around 17 years, around 30 people live here, the land was quite corroded in the beginning, over those years they restored and planted more than 1000 trees. Community dinners is once a week. It?s a calm and beautiful area where everybody works together to keep it maintained. Just came out of Vipassana www.dhamma.org, in such equilibrium, relaxed and full of energy, clear headed, and most of all, incredibly excited to get jaspers.tv on the road? I first visit Rik in Otamatea Ecovillage up north of Auckland. It?s my first Hitchhiking experience? In the silence of Vipassana I got a few insights or some cool ideas? At Otamatea I practice my characters that were created there ?naked?

November 13, 2007 Reality Check.....My first change to step out there and film and learn something about sustainability?stutter..stutter?like a fish in a tank, looking at the world and not really hearing what?s out there?

At least today I didn’t find any new carcasses. But then I took a different route heading west down to the Chiredzi River. It’s just the most magical drive down there in the Acacia woodlands. But in the early hours things are always pretty quiet along the river although I did see this giraffe bull heading down to drink. A few elephant were a ways off feeding in the mopanie woodlands where they get most of their sustenance at this time of year. Just before heading back to hangar duty I did my rounds on Banyini and in the cool weather, this really handsome White Rhino bull was drinking at the pan before sauntering off south. And just as I was about to start work, a troop of baboon crossed the airstrip right next to my hangar. Those little guys riding on their mom’s backs sure have it good. They’re always so comical.
