Chuck Workman and Stephen J. Kern, IN SEARCH OF KENNEDY producers: Mr. Media Audio InterviewChuck Workman and Stephen J. Kern, IN SEARCH OF KENNEDY producers: Mr. Media Audio Interview
from Mr. Media
June 16, 2008

If MTV edited a presidential campaign video, it would probably look and feel a bit like In Search of Kennedy, a new documentary film by Chuck Workman and Stephen J. Kern. The movie applies a 21st century sheen to the most iconic of 20th century political figures, John F. Kennedy. It is incredibly au currant, with the 2008 Democratic references narrowed down to Obama and Clinton. The movie - which reminds us that, in 2000, even George W. Bush was sold to the American public as being Kennedy-like! - is crammed with familiar faces interviewed expressly for this project, including Norman Mailer, Tom Hayden, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Michael Moore, Garrison Keillor, Chris Matthews, Arianna Huffington and Senators Edward Kennedy, Joseph Biden and Chris Dodd. Alec Baldwin and Elisabeth Peña speak the words of prominent writers. Workman, who wrote and directed In Search of Kennedy over a three-year period, received his Oscar® for his live action short “Precious Images.” Previously, Workman produced and directed two critically acclaimed theatrical documentaries, on two other ‘60s icons, Superstar: The Life and Times of Andy Warhol (1990) and The Source, (1999) about the Beat Generation and Jack Kerouac. One of the things that may surprise people is that this isn’t just a recitation of JFK’s greatest hits. It is a warts-and-all presentation of Jack and all the Kennedys, from the Bay of Pigs and Marilyn Monroe to Chappaquidick and William Kennedy Smith. Whether you’re a Kennedy fan or just a political junkie, you’ll no doubt find In Search of Kennedy provocative and entertaining. Barack Obama Pins Bush Economic Woes On John McCain & It Looks Like A Good FitBarack Obama Pins Bush Economic Woes On John McCain & It Looks Like A Good Fit
from RetroVision Media

The highlights are: A. Barack Obama's promises to Israel that he may have a difficult time honoring in the future. B. Barack Obama fires first salvo across John McCain's economic bow while only receiving harmless smoke and mirrors in return. Obama has successfully pinned the Bush administration's economic woes on McCain like a tail on the donkey. From our view, he wears it well. C. Country bracing for higher fuel and food prices as farmers fear modest crops this year. With Ben Bernanke signaling an end to rate cuts to stem inflation, the country is in for a rough ride.

It’s finally over, in time for it all to start all over again. As Hillary scoops the Democratic nomination, Spike talks about…. what? Oh, he did? Obama? Really? B-but six months ago… Hmm. It’s finally over, in time for it all to start all over again. As OBAMA scoops the Democratic nomination, Spike talks about the primary as a whole and looks ahead to five more months of this guff, intensified. Well, at least he’ll have plenty to talk about, right? Questions: What links (never a frown with) Gordon Brown to scary mentalist Derren Brown, other than the name? Why is Google turning into an AOL/MySpace hybrid? How well does Tony Blair know his Bible? Who says Britain’s “moral vacuum” is turning formerly good Christians into Islamic fundamentalists, and why? And how does that relate to the apparently moribund world of local radio? What can stop kids smoking and drinking? Are internet users ruthless and selfish? And what’s WITH that slutty mermaid…? All the answers, and much more, are in these eighty action-packed minutes of Rage. Don’t forget to kee pin touch with comments/complaints/factoids/free porn at SpikeShow.com. Does you Facebook? Barack Obama, the nominee of the Democratic Party as of last night’s final primary contest, awakens this morning to the nightmare of a shotgun wedding with Hillary Clinton as his running mate. After clearing every hurdle to achieve what no person of color, man or woman has in the history of American politics, he now has to find a way to placate a bunch of self-centered losers from forcible glomming on to his success. Hillary Clinton failed to do the right thing, the stand up thing, and the proper thing by congratulating Barack Obama on winning the needed number of delegates to capture the nomination. Intentionally, she snatched the door open to hijack her way back into the White House by hanging on to Obama’s coattails. Somehow, she has deluded herself and the fringe element within her core support that the Obama camp gives a rat’s ass about what she wants. America is a country that loves a winner and shuns its losers. There is little room for disgruntled second place finishers.

Many will conclude this commentary is a direct jab at John McCain, since he will be the oldest person to be sworn in as president if elected. Should that be the case, it is imperative that McCain’s vice presidential pick is much younger, capable and qualified to step in the oval office and assume command on a heartbeat’s notice. While it is true that John McCain’s health records indicated he is fit for duty, we question his ability to withstand the rigors of the day to day stressful scheduling and demanding workload that presidents must perform under. We have literally watched presidents wither on the vine under the pressures inherent in the worlds most powerful job; leader of the free world. We are watching our leadership go gray, tired and slow. Many stay in office for decades, sometimes to the detriment of their constituents. We are in no way suggesting that Senators Byrd and Kennedy have faltered as of late, but one has to wonder if America could find a way to redefine how we ha

As much as we hate rats and rat bastards, many times it is the only way to get to the truth. This is especially true when the government and the power that runs it is involved. Scott McClellan’s new book "What Happened" leveled the hammer big time on the Bush administration without mercy, leaving Karl Rove’s ass hanging in the wind. With John Conyers, heading up the House Judiciary Committee shoving a subpoena up Karl’s butt to force some conversation, conversation that Karl and the rest of the White House crew has been thumbing their noses at, maybe the tool needed to give Rove the tight screw he has coming. To date Karl has been playing the executive privileged game saying he and his “Boyz” are above it all. But this well timed book release is forcing the all the ugly and largely ignored stories of what was really going on behind the scenes that led this country to war at a time that has to have Karl “The Pillsbury Dough Boy” shitting bricks

Returning from any three-day weekend generally leaves some of us a little sluggish and lacking that creative spark. Fortunately for me, an anonymous comment left at the blog gave me the spark for today’s podcast. Our last podcast posting covered the possibility of worldwide despair due to global disasters along with food and fuel shortages topped off with domestic and international economic downturns that last beyond our comfort zones and levels of measurable tolerance. We also mentioned that because of said poor economic outlook and global catastrophes many would be lucky to have a backyard to have a backyard Bar BQ in this year. Based on most reports from airline hotels and restaurants many did just that and stayed close to home.

Sorry about the repost. Something went wrong. Howwibly, howwibly wrong. If you listened with the embedded flash player, chances are everything worked out just fine. If you use the RSS feed, you’d’ve gotten a mashed-up, short show. Sorry about that. If I understood what happened, I’d be making real money with a real job in computers. Oh well. It’s fixed now, so enjoy it! If you have any problems listening, let me know at the usual address so I can fix them, because most of the time I have no idea… After a “bloody hell moment” through the week and major praise from major quarters over last week’s show, our hero gets back to ‘nobody listening and it being rubbish’ usual, discussing whether Barack Obama can moan, whine and bleat over his wife being criticised, whilst sending her out to public events to campaign for him – were her original comments misunderstood? Or should she have stood her ground? E-Mail Spike at the usual address if you have any thoughts on the case. D’y’think John McCain has any grounds for criticising O, over his lack of military service? And did the AP/MSNBC overstep journalistic boundaries be referring to McCain as a “war hero” in the article rather than a veteran? You might like to comment on that, too. TEN GRAND to renovate a kitchen? TEN GRAND?? You better believe it. That, and other taxpayer-paid revelations in the expense accounts of British MPs. Prime Minister (neverafrownwith) Gordon Brown is launching a new service with YouTube, whereby the lumpen proletariat can submit questions. Spizzike looks at a few quizzestions asked of G-Bizzle by the great, good and snappily dressed of Grizzeat Brizzitain. The heads of the five families were dragged up to capitol hill and grilled by Spike’s new sarcastic hero. All that, and a man who doesn’t want to make any money. But, according to an anti-NRA organisation, is quite happy for straw purchasers to. Ha ha ha ha!

Okay, we know it’s Black Box theater Wednesday and we should have some local, affordable theater to recommend as per usual, but quit frankly, we did not see anything this week that would rate your attention. We did however get to some good stuff on the silver screen. The Ruins and Street Kings are our recommendations for an evening of kick ass action and scary spine chilling suspense. In Street Kings, Forest Whitaker as captain Jack Wander goes head to head with Keanu Reeves as detective Tom Ludlow, the kick ass detective being used by the captain to do the dirty work while he and the rest of his elite unit is raking in big dough from their own street drug sales. Whitaker is able to operate with immunity since he has the goods on all power figures in the Los Angeles political scene as well as the LAPD. This is a cool cop against cop, police corruption, internal affairs on the hunt for all the bad guys flick. This one is worth an afternoon in the theater just vegging to the action

Today, we thought it necessary and timely to revisit the issue of guns, gun control, the second amendment and how things work in the bigger cities. Our mayor Bloomberg, the NYCP Dept. Commissioner Ray Kelly, the loved ones of Sean Bell, (local man shot 50 times by police) and the officers on trial for the shooting are all trapped in this difficult situation because of the proliferation of weapons on the streets of New York. Stories like this as well as school shooting, Jr. High, High School, and college campuses are regular news items and have been getting worse every year. What Barack Obama is trying to get those in smaller, less densely populated areas of the country to understand is we need a compromise on this issue that all law abiding Americans can live with

Despite our own headline, we think New Yorkers are being rather rough on former Gov. Spitzer considering he has been known for years as being a real hard-on. Given the dilemma of opting for the do it yourself plan and ending up blind like Lt. Gov. David Paterson or risking his career, marriage, and a lifetime of outstanding accomplishments for some naughty nooky must have been blue-ball busting difficult. But all things being considered, Mr. Spitzer probably should have elected to go with the more cost-effective method of dealing with his sexual addiction as he has clearly demonstrated a lack of price negotiating skills. At nearly five thousand bucks a pop, this randy dandy could have busted the family’s finances in no time. Was he not thinking of the children’s future when he forked over a roll of dough thick enough to choke a horse for a one hour roll in the hey?
