from - blip.tv (beta) June 30, 2008
Playing strengths against weaknesses is often what investing is all about. Recently we published an article about the effectiveness of the hedging strategy used by Southwest Airlines (LUV) in the energy market. I know I know......South by Southwest was ages ago, but that doesn't mean I can't post interesting content about it. In Austin, SXSW is always part of our current culture. PMOG: The Web as a Play Field
from 2008 SXSW Podcasts June 24, 2008
http://audio.sxsw.com/podcast/interactive/panels/2008/SXSW08.INT.20080310.PMOG.mp3 We play with each other constantly online, both overtly and discreetly. We throw down gauntlets for each other on Twitter, play geolocal tag on Dopplr, and overtly play generic games on Facebook. In this great big virtual world of internet, what are our shared stakes? We will present our Passively Multiplayer Online Game, PMOG. PMOG transforms the existing topography of the internet into a game world for players to vandalize, annotate, and curate. Players experience PMOG through a Head-Up Display overlay in the Firefox web browser. This HUD interface allows players to play with each other through the world wide web, creating information quests, laying mines and building defenses around web sites. Order or chaos, destructive or productive - players choose their alignment by the way they surf and the way they use the tools of PMOG. In addition we will show other examples of surveillance data-driven entertainment from the web and out in the world, and explore how these types of experiences are softening us up for our computer overlords. We look forward to a lively Q CEO, GameLayers Inc Merci Hammon CCO/Lead Game Designer, GameLayers Inc
