The unorthodox views run counter to those held by Pakistan's military, which views India as a threat. India and Pakistan have fought three wars but have made recent peace moves. Path breaking statement on Indo Pak relations President Zardari's statement is bound to create ruckus within Pakistan since it controverts the very essence that has defined the Indo Pakistan relationship for 60 years. Those who consider India as an existential threat to Pakistan need revisioning. Mr. Zardari's comments are path breaking and lend fresh dimension to Indo Pakistan relationship. Neither can we allow our policies to be India centric any more nor can we allow our relationship to be held hostage by the Kashmir issue. Terrorism has destabilized the whole region, it also poses a grave threat to Pakistan's democratic and secular traditions. We need to work together with our neighbors to rein in this menace. Mr. Zardari was also correct in stating that 'there is no economic survival for nations like us. We need to have trade with our neighbors first'. Pakistan's troubled economy can derive huge benefits through trade with India. Pakistan must develop normal friendly ties with its neighbors if it is to emerge as a powerful nation. Uganda's Health Ministry has warned the country is under threat of importing the Wild Polio Virus (WPV) from Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan. WHO confirmed to the case of the virus in Miti-Murhesa District, South Kivu Province, DRC and subsequently of another case in Juba town, South Sudan. Uganda faces Polio attack The porous border between Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda and the free movement of people for trade and cultural reasons between Uganda and Juba, makes the possibility of such importation even more likely. The districts along the border with DR-Congo and South Sudan border plus districts along the Kampala Juba highway should be put on high alert. Uganda has been free of the Wild Polio Virus since 1996 and was certified Polio-free in October 2006. However, there have been challenges of routine immunization in the past few months leading to an accumulation of unimmunized children. The government should accelerate routine immunization nationwide with screening of eligible children to close the immunity gap. The government should cooperate with UNICEF, WHO and other partners for smooth facilitation of immunization and monitoring activities. South Korean actress Choi Jin Sil has left the entire country shaken. In her death, the late actress has become a symbol of the difficulties women face in this deeply conservative yet technologically savvy South Korean society. South Korea shaken by celebrity suicide Actress Cheo Jin Sil, suicide has gripped the nation, dominating headlines as authorities, relatives and even the government tries to determine what went wrong. It should not be that hard to figure out the reason underlying such an unfortunate eventuality. The late actress's life symbolizes the difficulties faced by a single, working, divorced mom in a deeply conservative yet tech savvy society. Choe may have killed herself in a momentary according to the investigative team, driven by malicious rumors and prolonged stress but nothing can deny stress of living with a pariah status in South Korean society. Choi spoke openly on the taboo topic and sought to change the unpopular public perception of single moms in South Korea. Korean society has never liked strong women, and thinks single moms have a personality disorder. South Korean society must shed this medieval psychology and become a support system for single mothers before taking any further lives. Zambia is gearing up for elections at the end of this month. The leaders of the respective parties have appealed to the party members to focus campaign on issues which are important for the people of Zambia. This is Brenda Zulu Citizen Journalist from Zambia reporting on Instablogs Elections in Zambia are not issue based. Even when some political parties or candidates attempt to campaign on the basis of issues that they intend to address, there is no guarantee that they would fulfill them once voted for. Friday, October 3rd, 2008 Cold Spring, MN USA FIRST HALF *QUICKTIME *iPOD *CELL After winning their first two Central Lakes Conference games, the ROCORI Spartans football team have been in a bit of a funk. Things would not be any easier for the Spartans last Friday as they welcomed the St. Cloud Tech Tigers to Cold Spring for their homecoming football game. The weather was perfect, and the crowd was rowdy as they hoped to cheer the Spartans on to a victory. The Tigers marched down the field for a touchdown on their first possession, and the Spartans countered with a touchdown of their own after a nice kickoff return by senior Mitch Bork. Watch all of the first half highlights here on DigElog ROCORI. SECOND HALF *QUICKTIME *iPOD *CELL The Spartans came out to the field up by a field goal, but their lead disappeared quickly. After a fumble at midfield, the Tigers high-powered offense quickly put up two scores and snatched the lead away. My doggies took priority today and I was with them at dawn. Still they haven’t fed. It’s now going on the 3rd day with no food. There’s no cause for concern but they will need to feed soon. They have such a high metabolism that they can’t survive for weeks without food like lions and leopards. At dawn the pups were running around madly chasing each other, while mom and dad chilled out and seemed in no mood for hunting. Half an hour later Puzzles led them south. They drank at a pan and then moved on. But not finding any prey they were soon resting up as the heat got to them already at only 7am. They really don’t function well in the heat. I left them to catch up with the elephant capture. When I got there they’d already darted a herd and loading was in progress. Another clockwork operation! Thankfully there was no flying today. Actually I really do like flying but flying later in the day when the conditions are really bumpy really doesn’t do me well. It was back to the wild dogs in the afternoon. Again they were on the move early but only barely. Puzzles kept on her bearing south. Then she and her man disappeared. The pups were milling around and about a minute later we heard the death cries of an impala. Puzzles had caught a young male about 50m behind. It must have been a short chase and she battled to get the impala down. It wasn’t exhausted as they usually are after a long chase, so it didn’t go down easily. The pups were there right away but not sure what to do and watched mom. This was probably the first kill they’d received alive. Once the impala was down the pups took over leaving Puzzles rummaging around eating the stomach. I spent about half an hour with them as it was now getting dark, but still no sign of the male. It was cloudy and cool until they introduced Maxie, breast cancer survivor, and then the clouds parted and the sun shined right through and until the closing ceremonies. The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure is Canada's largest single day, volunteer-led fundraising event dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research, education, and awareness programs. Each year, thousands of Canadians of all ages and walks of life unite to participate in the Run. Grab a Lapu Lapu and pull up a deck chair or chill in a hammock and enjoy the Fireworks Spectacle over the Magic Kingdom from you front row seat. One of the most relaxing and enjoyable ways to watch the fireworks at WDW is from the Beach at Disney's Polynesian Resort located across the lake of the seven Seas Lagoon. I highly recommend it! As an added bonus the Electrical Water Pageant started just as the fireworks began. Unfortunately the sound system was experiencing technical difficulties so the water pageant audio is unavailable but a special studio live mix will keep time with the spectacle.
