Hero For a Day
from MoviesandTelevision - recent posts - blip.tv (beta) July 07, 2008
This is my first student film, Hero For a Day. I wrote the script in Feb. 2008 and we shot in March. Preproduction took about two weeks before shooting and we shot with a skeleton crew of four including myself which was fine with me because I preferred a small crew. I did my own DP work and editing as well as the "shaky" effects in the bathroom scene. Everything was shot on location in Nashville, TN and all the lighting was natural except for a "baby" that we used in the kitchen. Shooting took place on March 21st and 22nd and was completed in a total of nine hours. This was good because I like to shoot very quickly and efficiently, and being my own DP and editor allows me to make that happen as a director because I know exactly what footage I need. All the glowing eye effects were handled by Andrew Wade and the mask was made by the very talented folks at Xtreme Design FX. We weren't given a budget for our projects so I had to use money out of my own pocket. Using methods I picked up from Lloyd Kaufman, I was able to put together all the costumes, props, locations, and craft services together and keep the whole film's budget under $100. The story came along out of my own experiences moving to Nashville and feeling alone in a big city, getting stuck in a mind-numbing routine and just waiting and hoping for something special to arrive at my doorstep and change things. To date, I have never suited up and tried my hand at crimefighting. =) Feel free to comment or message me if you have any questions. --Blake

from Pepperspray Productions' "Indymedia Presents" March 14, 2008

That's why you watch "Indymedia Presents"!http://www.frontrunnermovie.com Next Patricia talks with John Ealer, whose movie "View From the Bridge" also played at Slamdance. His flick, which he made about Kosovo, tries to answer the question "How do you envision peace when all you remember is war?" The film is about peacemaking, and finding one's way back to humanity after great horror. As the film points out, "Peace is for the brave." http://www.kosovomovie.com http://www.slamdance.com http://www.sundance.org/festival "Indymedia Presents" is Pepperspray Video Collective's Weekly Podcast and is available through RSS subscription at: Blip TV-- http://indymediapresents.blip.tv ... or download/subscribe to the Indymedia Presents podcast via Miro Player... free and open-source, because open media matters!!! http://www.getmiro.com "Miro is a free, open-source software project led by a non-profit organization. Sundance/Slamdance Film Festivals Part One
from Pepperspray Productions' "Indymedia Presents" March 10, 2008
This week, the first of two episodes with Pepperspray/Indymedia producer Patricia Boiko covering this years Sundance/Slamdance film festivals. LIES and broadcasting the truth. Our first three films center on the lies we tell ourselves and each other. We end with the tools to broadcast the truth. Patricia Boiko caught up with filmmaker, Sam Kauffman, at the Slamdance Film Festival. His beautifully crafted and poignant film is striking for it's simplicity in conveying the message of Rwanda and Dafur. His 5 minute film is shown in it's entirity. The second film is from our newest and youngest award winning director and "IndyMedia Presents" producer in Denmark. Mia Graabak's film was a winner in a videomarathon. Then we move to Park City, Utah and the Sundance Film Festival where Marina and Ryan, Seattle high school students, tell us about stereotypical lies spun about people from the Middle East and how the hilarious new Morgan Spurlock film, "Where In The World is Osama Bin Laden" gave them a whole new perspective. The final piece comes by way of the filmmakers lodge at Sundance and http://www.witness.org and tells how to broadcast the truth. Indymedia Presents is also available as an RSS podcast at: Blip TV-- http://indymediapresents.blip.tv ... or download/subscribe to the Indymedia Presents podcast via Miro Player... free and open-source, because open media matters!!! http://www.getmiro.com "Miro is a free, open-source software project led by a non-profit organization. ABEL RAISES CAIN is an unprecedented glimpse into the life and bizarre career of Alan Abel, the infamous underground media prankster. He has made a name for himself several times over with stunts that are just ridiculous enough to be believable, especially to a media that feeds on salacious, far-fetched stories. In this loving portrait of an eccentric father, Alan's daughter, Jenny, tells her firsthand account of what it was like growing up with a prankster. ABEL RAISES CAIN takes the audience on a roller coaster ride through the myriad of elaborate hoaxes and schemes that Abel pulled off over the years, all of which were designed to provoke and amuse...while at the same time, make people question everything that they see, hear and read.

077 - 01/07/07 Bobby Blackwolf Show - E For All, Slamdance
from The Bobby Blackwolf Show January 08, 2007
Happy New Year! Star Trek Legacy is bad, even for Trekkers, but Rayman's Raving Rabbids is surprisingly fun multiplayer. How hard is it to find a PS3 these days? And if you have one, what games can you play on it? The GamePro Expo is now called the "E For All" Expo, and carries a hefty $100 price tag for what is really a glorified EBGames. Rumors have leaked about a new Xbox 360 featuring an HDMI port, and was expected to be announced at CES. (Note: This show was done before the Microsoft keynote - we now know that no such 360 was announced.) Super Columbine Massacre RPG has been pulled out of the Slamdance Guerrilla Gamemaker Competition based on moral reasons - is the game too edgy for the edgy indie festival? We get emails about unbeatable games and analysts talking out of their anal vortexes with regards to Bully and Left Behind: Eternal Forces. Then, we get calls about the fall of Sonic, the fall of E3, and the rise of XNA. Be sure to check out Bobby Blackwolf on both Orange Lounge Radio's 2006 End Of Year show and XBL Radio's XNA Roundtable in Version 34.5!
