Song Shop™ Episode 002
from Song Shop Video Podcast July 15, 2008
It s A Shame - Banjo Puppets Let the silliness begin with a zipper song. Zipper songs make it easy to make up your own verses to a song. Lee Hays of the folk group, The Weavers used that term to refer to a song that has a line or word that will easily zip out and let you zip in a new line or word to create a new verse. “It’s a Shame” is a great zipper song, making it one of those tunes that can take you all the way from Washington to California with fresh verses along the way. It’s fun to make fun of things we don’t like to do, and to create wordplay nonsense, like Marcy’s “It’s A Shame to put a pickle on a Sunday”. Sing-along, strum along, make your own verses. Find the word and chords HERE Then, meet the Banjo Puppets, 3 crazy characters who help Cathy play banjo with only 1 finger. Find the song on the CD “When the Rain Comes Down” on Rounder Records, or from your favorite download site. Cathy & Marcy have an international reputation as a phenomenally talented duo (Time Out New York). They’re also well known for delivering children’s music at its purest (Cookie magazine). www.cathymarcy.com Traditional, Arrangement Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer ©2 Spoons Music, ASCAP Find this song on the CD “When the Rain Comes Down”, Rounder 8013

Trailer Park: Tales To Horrify
from Cinematical June 27, 2008
Filed under: Comedy, Horror, Trailer Trash, Trailers and Clips I love a good horror flick, but it's rare that I can find five trailers with some kind of connection to horror worth talking about in a single week. Huzzah! This is just such a week. Take a look at these Tales to Horrify. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Undead This light-hearted take on vampirism reminds me a little of Roman Polanski's The Fearless Vampire Killers, with the "theater of vampires" bit making me think of Interview With The Vampire. I gotta say this looks awesome. An unemployed actor played by Jake Hoffman (son of Dustin) lands a job directing a bizarre off-Broadway version of Hamlet. The play has actually been written by a Romanian vampire, and things get complicated when the lead actor suddenly becomes one of the undead as well. Ralph Macchio is in there too playing a mobster/vampire hunter and, according to Monika's post from a few months ago, Sean Lennon has written the score. This looks like a classy production all the way through. Mirrors Mirrors are everywhere, but there's still something inherently creepy about them. Kiefer Sutherland plays an ex-cop and some kind of malevolent force is using mirrors as a gateway into his home to threaten him and his family. There are some creepy moments here, but I'm not sure about this one. These days I see Sutherland and I can't get past his Jack Bauer character, and that kid in the trailer is trying way too hard to sound cute. This is also from the director of High Tension, which is not a score in the plus column for me. The trailer is pretty slight, so I'll have to see more. Here's what William thought. Elaborate Lives (Reprise)
from YouTube :: Tag // voice May 08, 2008
Singing Elaborate Lives (Reprise) on the karaoke of the original Elaborate Lives... because a karaoke for the reprises do not exist (as far as I know :( ) The songs are just flowing now that I've finished school for the year! Although I'm taking summer school, which starts next week... but since its just a new credit, it'll only be for a few hours a week (and by a few, i mean like 10, lol) I'll still be able to keep recording and uploading :D I know the truth is still in the works- I have a version done but it sounds a little too manly for my taste (for some strange reason, my voice sounds REALLY deep in it!) so I'm going to keep working at that and hopefully a better version gets done soon :) Plus a song from the country of my birth coming up! And hopefully our trio for A Step Too Far gets completed soon... Polo!! Any guys want to sing the few lines that Radames sings towards the end, please feel free ;) Enjoy! :) Author: evolutionized Keywords: singing elaborate lives reprise sing-along duet series aida musical elton john record heather headley adam pascal Added: May 7, 2008

Eyes on Me Sing-Along
from YouTube :: Tag // utada March 23, 2008
I just recently beat "FF8," so here's the theme song, "Eyes on Me." "Eyes On Me" is the ballad that serves as the theme of the game Final Fantasy VIII. It was performed by Chinese singer Faye Wong and composed, like the rest of the game music, by Nobuo Uematsu. The song's lyrics, written in English by Kako Someya, unveil the hopes of a night club singer for romance with a member of her audience. It was released as a CD single in Japan, including an instrumental version and Wong's ballad "Red Bean". The song sold more than 400,000 copies, placing it as the best-selling video game music disc ever released in that country until "Hikari" by Utada Hikaru for Kingdom Hearts. "Eyes On Me" was the first song in video game history to win an award at the 14th Annual Japan Gold Disc Awards, where it won "Song of the Year (Western Music)" in 1999. Within the game, the song is written by Julia Heartilly, a pianist who is the love interest of Laguna Loire. It is heard repeatedly throughout the game in various incarnations as an instrumental piece, including a version entitled Julia. Its full version is heard during a moment between Squall Leonhart and Rinoa Heartilly—the main protagonists—onboard the Ragnarok. It is played once more during the game's ending. A dance remix of the song was included on the Japanese release of Wong's 2000 album Fable. Remixes also appeared in Toshiba EMI's Dancemania series. In 2004 a Japanese-language version entitled "Natsu no Arubamu" (Summer Album) with lyrics by Kazushige Nojima was included on Final Fantasy: Song Book - Mahoroba. It was also covered by Ailyn in 2005, and by Angela Aki for release on her 2006 single "Kokoro no Senshi".
