And temporary residents in this river along the Jersey Shore.But with the 4th of July approaching --- many environmental officials were afraid that these dolphins would be in danger....Especially as the area gears up for a huge influx of boaters and holiday revelers...Initially, officials hoped to somehow coax the 15 dolphins out of the river....and back to the ocean.But as the days wore on --- and the mammals made it clear they had no intention of leaving.It was decided that it'd be better to let them stay put.Fearing it was more dangerous to try to move or scare them back toward the sea.
