Shot sometime in 1974-1975, Bill Walton, the star center of the Portland Trailblazers, had just suffered a season-ending foot injury. The national media was clammering for an interview .. on a Saturday morning. I got the call from home. Sport Director Ted Dawson had scored an exclusive interview and wanted me to shoot it. Apparently Walton trusted Ted and I to do a fair story. We went to his home on the Willamette river south of Portland. I remember it because the custom house had been built to Bill Walton scale and I felt so small. I remember his beautiful German Shephards which you see in the film. We got back to the station before noon. I had maybe 20 minutes to edit the piece when the film was developed. Once I turned in my paper, my professor pulled out a planner and showed me that I couldn't relax just yet, I still had two weeks before I could go home for thanksgiving break... and that included finals (which means I had to study A TON)!
