Never Ending Laundry
from The Rambling Loggerhead August 29, 2008
I can t get over just how impossible it is to catch up on the laundry. My problem isn t getting the clothes clean. It s getting them put away. There is just so much else to be doing. Even now a few days after making the video. I ve got two full laundry baskets of clean clothes ready to be put away, a dryer full of clean clothes ready to be sorted, and a hamper with a load or two in it. Oh what fun. Neverending Laundry

Peddle Peddle Peddle
from The Rambling Loggerhead August 29, 2008
Peddle Peddle Peddle Just a quick shot of Liam on his trike peddeling. I know it doesn t seem like a big deal bit it is HUGE. He usually isn t one to peddle and instead would just push off as if he were on a baby toy. BUT now he s peddling and he s been doing it every day since the video was taken. I think we ve crossed the threshold with the peddling. AND that means perhaps he ll get a big boy bike soon. Or more realistic is that Ryan will get a bigger bike for his birthday and Liam will get the big boy bike that Ryan has now. Such big boys and bigger every day.

Reward for 4 Shots
from The Rambling Loggerhead August 29, 2008
The other day was our annual trip to the doctors for a round of checkups and shots. This time Liam was the only one who needed shots and wow. He needed FOUR shots. Two in each leg. Since he s still a little guy he wasn t very excited about getting shots but he was super duper tough and only cried a tiny bit durring the actual shot. As a reward I told him we could do whatever he d like to do for dinner. He chose chineese food. So we went off to check out the chineese place that was just remodeled. Not a bad afternoon, not bad at all.

The Air Hockey Table
from The Rambling Loggerhead August 20, 2008
We were given an Air Hockey Table about a week or so ago. It is part of the reason we have been cleaning out some of our stuff. This thing is huge and were currently fixing it up But that doesn t stop the boys. They are right into it. I can t wait to get this thing up and running for them. I ve got part of the air holes unclogged but it s slow going and will take some time. In the end I think the boys will be playing on this thing forever!

MM 131: Getting Center'd - www.ManicMommies.com - (508) 644-8434
from Manic Mommies August 17, 2008
Summer is almost over (sigh) and a mom's thoughts turn towards getting organized for the school year. To help us get started, we welcome Jennifer Dulski, working mom of two and co-founder and the chief executive officer at Centerd.com, a web site designed to help groups (big groups, small groups, friends, volunteers, etc) get on the same page. While the Manic Mommies love the idea of getting more organized, one of us (Kristin) is worried it's going to be harder than ever to avoid volunteering at the school.

Kristin's back from vacation and the summer is almost over! The kids will be back in school before we know it. This week we're joined by Archivist Alison, a professional archivist who provides great advice on how to clear out last year's precious memories to make room for all the new stuff to come. Alison also advises us on how to preserve photos for the long term and explains why being a hoarder or a purger is perfectly OK.

Food Prices
from The Rambling Loggerhead August 06, 2008
Every six weeks or so we go down to BJ s Wholesale club to buy food. With it just being the three of us we are able to keep our costs down VERY low by having that be our main souce of food. And although we are able to fill the pantry and frezer with enough food to last six weeks the fridge is a bit more of a challenge. The items that go in the fridge don t last quite as long. So we head down to the city every two weeks or so to pick up fruit, vegitables, and bread. The trip to BJ s used to run us $250 to $300 for six weeks averaging down to about $50 a week plus an additional $10 or so a week in additional spending on perishables. It s no longer the case. While I ve been able to keep our every six week trip under $400 our supplemental trips have gone through the roof price wise. This past week we spent over $50! on eggs, milk, veggies, fruit, bread, and rice. And the rice was extra. Small packets for 50 cents each and boxes for $1.50 each so it wasn t a huge addition. NO it was the fruit, veggies, and bread that were so expensive. I m amazed at how little food each dollar buys these days. I m starting to get concerned. I think there will be a great deal of people really hurting this winter when the cost of food and heating oil together with high rent/mortgage payments cause people to choose which necessity of life they will go without. But for now at least. We have eggs, milk, bread, fruits, and vegitables.
