The oyster industry in the Pacific Northwest could be facing serious trouble. In recent years, hatcheries have seen oyster larvae die off at unusually high rates. No one knows what's killing the young oysters, but scientists have two theories. KUOW's Deborah Wang has the story.

This isnt much, and tbh I removed the sound as it was horribly distracting. I took a few shots of the garden to test contrast and detail in the sunshine and in the shade. On the whole this camera performs better in slightly overcast conditions or diffused light. As you can see its possible to get reasonably close, I got a little too close at times and the subject blurred out - a limitation of not having a screen. Infact if you're setting this camera up on a bike or a helmet, before finalising your position I recommend you use a small portable screen as a viewfinder to be sure of your angle and direction. This camera is also a bit slow to react to changes in lighting - so if you ride a bike under a tunnel or ae heading into a forest with it expect it to take a little time to catch up with the exposure. I think for what it is as well as the price Oregon Scientific are on to a winner. I hope they can include better glass and a bigger sensor in a future model to improve the visuals - as to me it seems as if we're only quite halfway there. Given a couple of years I think this could be THE camcorder to have on the cheaper side of the market, even discounting its orginal sports intentions.
