HINA ICHIGO FIXES HER HAIR WHILE I PLAY UNFITTING MUSIC
from YouTube :: Tag // lost July 22, 2008
Today, let's talk about Nintendo, shall we? My childhood was based around Nintendo and their games. I loved them. Sega and Sony stood no chance of taking me away from them, as I was too big a fan of Zelda and Mario and all those franchises Nintendo had. I played Donkey Kong Country and it's sequels so many times, it's ridiculous. That and Super Mario RPG, StarFox 64, Ocarina of Time, Banjo-Kazooie... The list goes on. I was always excited when they announced a new game because I knew it would be great when I bought it. However... Something started to... change within Nintendo after the N64. The Gamecube launch title was Luigi's Mansion, which wasn't quite as good as Super Mario World or Super Mario 64. I figured this was just a little bump in the road, and for the most part, I was right. We had some great games for a few years. Then, Nintendo did something strange and unexpected: The sold RareWare to Microsoft. This was a big shock to me, as I was a huge Rare fan at the time and the future of the DK and B-K series looked bleak. I just couldn't understand why they would sell their biggest developer on a whim. But, I still trusted their judgment. After a few years, the Gamecube started getting less and less games. To the point that I stopped playing games completely for months. But, like a shining beacon in the darkness, the Nintendo Revolution was announced. It was going to be amazing: backwards compatibility with all Nintendo consoles, new original ideas were rumored to be in the works, and we were promised the best console ever. I was so happy. After months of waiting, we were finally introduced to the name 'Wii'. I was kind of shocked. I surely didn't like the name, but I didn't really mind. A few months later, however, we finally got to see the Wii's controller... It was a remote control with a nunchuk attached. I was very upset about this. I thought that Nintendo had lost their minds, making this monstrosity. It seemed like we Nintendo fans were going to have to find a new system to buy, because Nintendo had lost it. But, they told us about how truly innovative the controls could be by showing us demos of new, beautiful Mario and Metroid games. I was sold. It seemed Nintendo had hundreds of great games lined up. Sadly, none of these games were quite the same. Using the Wii Remote instead of the Gamecube controller was more of a gimmicky hindrance than a new way to play. While swinging a remote may be more akin to swinging a sword than pressing a button, the loss of precision in the process made the controls a convoluted mess. Many fans were disappointed in this new setup and begged for Gamecube controller support for these games, but were ignored. Needless to say, I was starting to feel less entertained by the Wii than any other Nintendo console. Yet the Wii was and remains the top-selling console in the world. How can this possibly be? Nintendo hasn't made an experience on Wii worth buying, yet it sells more than any other system. It's the casual game market. Recently at E3 2008, Shigeru Miyamoto, mastermind behind Mario and Zelda announced how Zelda needs to be MORE focused on a casual audience than what Twilight Princess was. The same Twilight Princess that felt awkward and broken because of the forced 'appeal' to the casual audience. This is what has started the end of video games as we know them. Nintendo doesn't NEED to make new, truly innovative ideas anymore. Not when they can make a minigame collection like Wii Sports and make triple the income. The recent sucess of 'casual' games has made it's way to other consoles now as well, soon to fill their libraries with minigame shovelware which will outsell the actual GAMES of the systems. Just look at the Fall '08 Xbox Dashboard update. It's the Wii Menu with these oh-so-original 'avatars'. No gamer liked the Miis on Wii. Why would we want them on the 360? Sony's HOME is very similar as well, just not as cartoonish. I no longer support Nintendo by buying their minigames and neither should any person who likes video games. I do support them in spirit, however, because I know deep-down, they want to make real games again someday. I just hope that day comes before it's too late for the industry... and my childhood friends, Mario and Link. Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl
from Most Discussed July 20, 2008
http://iamgamers.com Get latest Ringtones Katy Perry I Kissed Girl Katy Perry (born Katheryn Hudson on October 25, 1984) is an American singer-songwriter and occasional actress. She is most notable for her singles, Ur So Gay , released in 2007, and the worldwide smash hit, I Kissed a Girl which in 2008 topped the Billboard Hot 100, Canadian Hot 100, the Australian ARIA Charts and has so far peaked at #4 on the Worldwide Charts. Biography Early life Perry was born in Santa Barbara, California, USA. The middle child of two pastors, she grew up listening to gospel music and singing in church. After Steve Thomas and Jennifer Knapp signed Perry to their label Red Hill Records, she released her first CD Katy Hudson in 2001, a Christian gospel album. According to several Christian radio stations, Katy Perry's most recent album One of The Boys has raised a considerable amount of controversy as two of her singles Ur So Gay and I Kissed A Girl deal with same-sex issues that conflict with her Christian upbringing. In her teenage years, Perry found a Queen album with her friend, From then on, they have been my biggest influence . Also among her musical influences are Alanis Morissette as well as Heart and Joni Mitchell. Perry changed her surname to Perry because Katy Hudson was too close to Kate Hudson. Perry was her mother's maiden name.. Early career In 2004, Perry became an in-house vocalist for the record production team The Matrix, who had previously worked with Avril Lavigne, Liz Phair, and Britney Spears, among others. Perry also began working on a debut mainstream album, writing with Glen Ballard, which was due for release in 2005; some of the collaborations included Box and Diamonds, which were released on Perry's official MySpace page. Her burgeoning music career led to her being named The Next Big Thing in October 2004 in Blender Magazine, where Perry stated she wasn't a typical Christian , mentioning that she had done lots of bad things during her adolescence. One of the tracks she recorded with Ballard, Simple , was released on the soundtrack of the 2005 film The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. She has openly talked about her struggles within the music industry, such as being dropped from record labels for much of her early career. Her songs eventually captured the attention of Virgin Records CEO Jason Flom, who was the head of Capitol Music Group, and she signed to Capitol Music in early-2007. Perry is now regularly heard on MTV, VH1, as well as commercials. She most recently appeared on the reality TV show 'So You Think You Can Dance,' singing her hit, I Kissed a Girl . Capitol Records After signing to Capitol Records, Perry began recording for her official mainstream debut album, released in 2008, working with Greg Wells, Dr. Luke, Butch Walker, Max Martin and Cathy Dennis. The full length album titled One of the Boys was released in the USA on June 17, 2008. The album was preceded by a digital EP in late 2007, entitled Ur So Gay , produced by and co-written with Greg Wells (OneRepublic, Mika). A video for the song premiered in early 2008, and brought Perry to the attention of Madonna, who mentioned her on KISS FM Ur So Gay was her favorite song right now, as well as another mention on Ryan Seacrest's Morning Show. Ur So Gay has been criticized for alleged homophobia. On April 29, 2008, her first official single from One of the Boys, I Kissed a Girl , debuted on the iTunes Store. The song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at #76, climbing to #1 as of June 25, 2008. It has peaked on iTunes Top 100 at #1, as of June 3, 2008. The music video for I Kissed a Girl was released on May 21, 2008 on MySpace. The song has generated controversy due to its popularity with children and its depiction of sexuality, homosexuality, and/or promiscuity. In contrast, an essay in Slant Magazine argues that the song isn't problematic because it promotes homosexuality, but because its appropriation of the gay lifestyle exists for the sole purpose of garnering attention—both from Perry's boyfriend and her audience. In addition, she has had songs from the album featured on MTV's series, The Hills ( Self Inflicted , Waking Up In Vegas and Thinking Of You ), on Oxygen Network's reality series, Fight Girls, and on the 2008 film Baby Mama ( Fingerprints ). She was also featured on P.O.D.'s 2006 single Goodbye for Now . As an actress, she made a cameo appearance on Carbon Leaf's video Learn to Fly and on Gym Class Heroes' video Cupid's Chokehold . On March 10, 2008, she appeared as herself on ABC Family's Wildfire (episode titled Life's Too Short ). She has appeared in advertisements for Too Faced Cosmetics' Spring 2007 line. On June 12, Perry appeared as herself on the popular daytime soap opera, The Young & The Restless, and on MTV's TRL.
