MADtv Opening Season 13
from YouTube :: Tag // madtv July 24, 2008
MADtv Season 13: MADtv's thirteenth season premiered on September 15, 2007. Season 13 ended on May 17, 2008 With 16 Episodes. Season summary: MADtv began its thirteenth season with some significant changes to its cast, shooting schedule, and format. Three of the eleven cast members from season twelve departed: Ike Barinholtz, Frank Caeti, and Nicole Randall Johnson. Cast members Crista Flanagan, Keegan-Michael Key, Bobby Lee, Michael McDonald, Arden Myrin, Nicole Parker, and Jordan Peele returned for season thirteen. Johnny A. Sanchez also joined MADtv as its first new repertory player. Featured players for season thirteen were Anjelah Johnson, Dan Oster, and Daheli Hall.[1] The show was taped at the Henry Fonda Music Box Theater in Hollywood because Fox executives believed a "live-event feeling" would enhance the show[citation needed]. Due to budget cuts, most of the sketches were shot on location rather than in the theater with little use of props or costumes. An increased use of featured cast members and guest comedians marked season thirteen. With the exception of the opening sequence and live action on-stage (i.e., opening monologue and show close), sketches are now shown in 4:3 letterbox format and filmed on location. MADtv went on hiatus between November 24 and February 2 due to the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike. Even though the writers' strike didn't end until February 12, the episodes for February 2, 9, and 16 consisted of pretaped sketches from planned episodes that ended up being cancelled due to the strike and repeats of old sketches from seasons 8-10 (with no segments from the Music Box Theater). The show returned to its normal format on March 29, 2008. Opening montage: The opening title sequence for season thirteen has been dramatically redesigned. The original MADtv song used for the previous twelve seasons has been completely replaced by random snippets of drum and guitar music. (The first four episodes used small snippets from the original theme song.) The show also has a new announcer. MADtv Opening Season 12
from YouTube :: Tag // irack July 24, 2008
MADtv Season 12: The twelfth season of MADtv aired from September 16, 2006, to May 19, 2007, with 22 episodes. Summary: A few minor cast changes were made during season twelve. The only cast members who did not return were Stephnie Weir (who left midway through season eleven), Frank Caliendo (who chose not to renew his contract), and Daniele Gaither (who was let go by FOX executives). Frank Caeti and Nicole Randall Johnson, featured performers from season eleven, were promoted to repertory status. Lisa Donovan made her first appearance as a featured performer in the season's fourteenth episode. Season twelve featured some format changes. Previous seasons featured a sketch before the opening credits, but this was dropped for season twelve episodes; instead, previews of sketches from that particular episode appear. As in the show's early years, sketches were shorter and were sometimes split into separate parts to prevent them from dragging (such as a three-part filler piece about apropos TV shows saved on the TiVos of Tom Cruise, Tommy Lee, and George W. Bush). After Frank Caliendo's departure, political sketches about George W. Bush stopped appearing as often. Season twelve also featured more TV and movie parodies, celebrity-based sketches, one-off situational comedy sketches, with recurring character sketches comprising the rest. Still, MADtv continued to air vaguely political sketches such as the "Steve Jobs Presents the iRack" sketch, featuring Michael McDonald as the Apple executive unveiling the iRack at a trade show. Test audiences tell him that the "iRack is falling" and to "take things out of the iRack" (thereby riffing on the word as a pun for Iraq). Michael McDonald reprised a character from season eleven, Larry Felmer, an obsessive fan who gets extremely angry when celebrities are mocked. Other returning characters were Crista Flanagan's Luanne Lockheart and Wendy Walker (Three Minute Meals), Nicole Parker's Disney Girl, Nicole Randall Johnson's Ka-Son, Keegan-Michael Key's Coach Hines, and Michael McDonald's Stuart Larkin. New sketches in season twelve included a Korean soap opera spoof called Attitudes and Feelings Both Desirable and Sometimes Secretive, starring Bobby Lee. Attitudes and Feelings, spoken in fluent yet random Korean words and subtitled in comical broken English (the dialogue and subtitles are not related), consists of rather bizarre soap opera clichés about the twisted life of Dr. Poon Ji Sum, his sexual antics, and his enemy, Korean crimelord "Mr. President." Each sketch ended with a cliffhanger. (The sketches were usually shown about five episodes apart.) Lee also played Johnny (Xian Hi) Gan, a Korean millionaire who hosts a rather odd talk show where him and his assistant, Pongo (who seems to be in love with him) interview celebrities. Animated sketches returned to MADtv after being absent for several years. Claymation also appeared for the first time in seven years with the recurring sketch "Celebrity Pets", in which pets of celebrities talk about their daily lives with their celebrity owners. The show also featured some non-sequitur claymation sketches such as "Red Snow" (a Happy Feet-meets-Saving Private Ryan movie trailer), a Valentine's Day cartoon where Cupid murders two would-be lovers with hollow point arrows, "Real Police Video: Immigration", "Cartoon Network Rejects", and a Christmas short where George W. Bush blackmails Santa into killing his enemies. MADtv also developed a popular recurring animation sketch called "Weekly News with Toby", in which first grader Toby (voiced by Frank Caeti) talks about his view on current events. Opening montage: The twelfth season features a new title sequence with shots of the performers as they prepare for the show. The screen divides into three different live-action shots. When the theme music starts, the announcer introduces each cast member alphabetically. After the last cast member is introduced, the whole cast is shown in a live-action shot. The music stops and the title sequence ends with the phrase "You are now watching MADtv." The sequence also features a new announcer. MADtv Opening Season 11
from YouTube :: Tag // madtv July 23, 2008
MADtv Season 11: The eleventh season of MADtv aired from September 17, 2005, to May 20, 2006, with 22 episodes. Summary: Spencer Kayden, Ron Pederson, Aries Spears and Paul Vogt left at the end of season ten. Crista Flanagan, a featured player from season ten, was promoted to repertory status. One new repertory cast member, Arden Myrin, and two new featured cast members, Nicole Randall Johnson and Frank Caeti, were added to the cast. Stephnie Weir, who announced her departure at the end of season ten, agreed to film four new episodes' worth of material, which was spread throughout the first half of the season. Season eleven showcased one of the youngest casts ever: except for Michael McDonald and Stephnie Weir, all cast members were born in the 1970s and joined MADtv after the year 2000. The ethnic composition of the season eleven cast was also the most diverse in the show's history, with one Asian male, one Jewish male, three white males, two African-American males, two African-American females, and four white females. New sketches in season eleven included send-ups of FOX NFL Sunday, featuring Arden Myrin, Frank Caliendo, and Ike Barinholtz, and Ike and Bobby "On the Town" sketches, which were often shot on location. Nicole Parker introduced her first recurring character, The Disney Girl, a perky, happy young woman who tries to spread joy in city slums. (Parker won a Creative Arts Emmy for best lyrics in the Disney Girl sketch "Wonderfully Normal Day".) Daniele Gaither appeared as sociopath Yvonne Criddle and Crista Flanagan played Wendy Walker, a cooking show host who gets stressed out preparing meals. Myrin impersonated Hollywood's A-list celebrities such as Jillian Barberie in FOX NFL Sunday sketches; she also played nerdy craftsworkers Krista and Alana from Holly Meadow Estates. Johnson played characters like The Vancome Lady-like Ka-Son and impersonated celebrities like Star Jones, Queen Latifah, and Chris Rock. Frank Caeti impersonated Nick DiPaolo and former Dallas Cowboys coach-turned-FOX NFL Sunday-announcer Jimmy Johnson. A variety of special guests appeared from sitcoms (Jeff Garlin, Alyson Hannigan, Neil Patrick Harris, Jaime Pressly, Michael Rapaport), wrestling organizations (John Cena), and past seasons of MADtv (Jeff Probst, Pauly Shore, Fred Willard). Pamela Anderson, a celebrity lampooned by past cast members Mo Collins and Arden Myrin, made her first appearance on the sketch show's 250th episode. Opening montage: The title sequence opens with the MADtv logo appearing against the skyline of Los Angeles. The theme song, performed by the hip-hop group Heavy D & the Boyz, begins and an announcer introduces each repertory cast member alphabetically, followed by the featured cast. The screen dissolves into three live-action clips of an individual cast member, then the three screens multiply until they fill the entire screen. Then all of the multiple clips flip over and displays another clip of the same cast member. As the multiple clips are reduced to one clip, a still color photo of the cast member is superimposed on the screen with his/her name appearing in caption over the photo. When the last cast member/guest is introduced, the music stops and the title sequence ends with the phrase "You are now watching MADtv." Cast: -Ike Barinholtz -Frank Caliendo -Crista Flanagan -Daniele Gaither -Keegan-Michael Key -Bobby Lee -Michael McDonald -Arden Myrin -Nicole Parker -Jordan Peele -Stephnie Weir^ Featuring: -Frank Caeti -Nicole Randall Johnson ^ Performer left mid-season.
