Lowry: One Thing
from Insomnia Radio: Daily Dose MP3 Blog October 04, 2008
Brooklyn, NY based group Lowry just released their debut album Love is Dead on Engine Room Recordings, and its a devastatingly romantic glimpse inside the world of this indie folk quintet. Today s feature, One Thing, starts off with a very Nick Drakesque acoustic strum coupled with the harmony of Simon s social site bulletins. Insomnia Radio #159: FU Robot
from Insomnia Radio: Kill Your FM September 28, 2008
The year is obviously 2008, not 2005 as the evil announcer at the show header describes. Yes, as you will quickly notice, there is some sort of robotic, computer, and videogame nerdery meshed together unseamlessly in this episode, gladly supplied by this uber-geek. Seriously, we ve got some great tracks and a few appearances by DJ s from last month s New Media Expo in Las Vegas, not to mention two artists have blood and sun in their names; what are the chances, and could that be an ominous sign? Enjoy and as usual, please help support all the hard-working artists below. TRT - 50:38 Not work safe! Second Life Looks at Google Lively!
from recent posts bookmarked by malburns - blip.tv (beta) July 15, 2008
Moderated by John Jainschigg, Director, Internet and Community Laboratory, Ziff Davis Enterprise, Inc., this lively discussion with panelists Rhonda Lowry, VP Emerging Social Media Technologies, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.; Eric Reuters, Special Correspondent, Second Life, Reuters, Inc.; and Mitch Wagner, Executive Editor, InformationWeek, UBM TechWeb looks at Google's quiet introduction of the Lively virtual world platform that may mark the beginning of a new era for the exploding virtual worlds industry. The locus of greatest attention in that industry and the domain of greatest innovation has long been Second Life, which just celebrated its fifth birthday. What do Second Life residents, stakeholders and media think of Lively? Does Lively represent a challenge to Second Life's vision, or a powerful endorsement? Will communities of residents and business stakeholders on these platforms remain separate, or mingle? What does the near-term future hold for both platforms? In this informal panel, hosted by multi-platform metaverse developer World2Worlds in Lively, Second Life, and on the web, you'll hear first thoughts from major media minds on the Second Life/Virtual Worlds scene.

Sean Lowry, 'Painting is only dead as a noun' (LAPDANCER)
from YouTube :: Tag // modest April 23, 2008
The laptop computer has become a familiar site for the transfer and dissemination of cultural information. In response to the scale and theatricality of dominant video installation models, this work utilises the relatively modest exhibition format of the standard laptop computer in order to present unheroic content in which neither sound nor vision is overtly privileged. This work is designed for exhibition on a standard laptop computer with built in speakers (or if necessary small additional computer speakers). Aiming to collude the attitude, humour and attention span of popular cultural formations within the drier reflexivity of contemporary art, this project is an acknowledgement of both the rejection of aspirations toward originality and the conflicting desire to create. Sound ostensibly possesses an uncanny ability to imbue visual culture with authenticity, authority, emotion or corporeality, and as a consequence, often exerts a powerful visceral influence over the experience of visual culture. Altering existing or established relationships between sound and vision can profoundly affect perception and interpretation. This work aims to playfully elucidate the role of audio in creating, adding, or shifting meaning within visually centered cultural formations. Is it possible to find a form of poetry that begins rather than ends in ironic estrangement? This artist maintains an agnostic attitude to this question. Club Paradise! A Film Noir Nightmare with Janet Shaw (1945)
from Dailymotion - recent videos March 06, 2008
A powerful piece of vintage film noir, Club Paradise is the tragic tale of women in the 40s who want to live life in the fast lane. Played by the beautiful Constance Worth, Isabel Jewell, and Wanda McKay, these three Hollywood bombshells take a trip through the seedy side of life: criminality, exploitation, gambling, and womanizers. Shot with stark and harsh 40s noir style, Club Paradise is nothing short of a downward spiral into Hell. But amongst the femme fatales and booze hound drunks there is much to be learned about morality and cultural fears from this piercing period in American history. Club Paradise is a fantastic collaboration of stylized sexy women and heartbreaking tragedy as the ladies crash against the sharp points of bleak nightlife. When we were in Nashville, we hung out with Sampson. He maintains computers for a lot of the major Country and Christian artists who live there, including Alan Jackson, Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant and Mark Lowry. He built a computer system for his cat. car. His setup includes a Samsung Q1 Ultra Mobile PC , a Kyocera KR1 Mobile Router and an Adesso Smartcat USB Touchpad . Mainly he uses it for Gmail, but he also uses it for TV Tonic for listening to podcasts, and he has it connected to his Slingbox for watching TV. Don't worry! He doesn't watch stuff while he's driving! Inexplicably, he keeps a comedian in the backseat, which we assume is the source of most of his mobile entertainment. :) After we hung out with Sampson, we had a meetup at Geoff Smith's dueling piano bar called The Big Bang. There were about 20 Geek Brief viewers, plus Matthew Ebel and Mark Lowry. Geoff performed Digg the Code live. It was an amazing night, and we're putting all the Podsafe footage in the Junk Trunk after it's encoded. Matthew Ebel Geoff Smith The Big Bang Mark Lowry My Junk Trunk Footage

Lifespring!102 "Meet Mark Lowry!"
from Lifespring! All Shows Feed August 21, 2006
Hosted by Steve Webb. I had such a fun time interviewing Mark Lowry for this show! What a high energy guy! Mark Lowry wrote the song "Mary, Did You Know", my favorite Christmas song. He was a part of the Gaither Vocal Band for 13 years, and he's been in every one of the Gaither Family Homecoming DVDs. Nowadays, Mark is on his own, touring around the country making audiences laugh and clap their hands and just generally have a good ol' time. Enjoy the show!
