Als de lijst met items en objecten te lang wordt, is het op den duur met al die verschillende virtuele items een geworstel om snel te vinden wat je zoekt. In deze les leer je de inventory beter doorgronden. De verschillen tussen de map Library en de map My Inventory worden uitgelegd en je leert een aantal trucs om items te filteren waardoor de inventory overzichtelijker wordt. Tussen neus en lippen door leer je ook nog eens hoe je jezelf snel aankleed. En had je de optie 'New Window' al ontdekt in de inventory? Blijf kijken want dat is de gouden tip van deze les.

Een beetje bewegen kan geen kwaad. In dit onderdeel laat ik je zien wat je kunt tegen komen als je het onderdeel 'Move' probeert te voltooien. Ik zeg bewust 'probeert' want het orientatie eiland laat zo nu en dan nog wel eens een sterretje vallen. Toch is dit een prima plek waar je leert lopen, rijden en vliegen. En vooral hoe je de camera kunt gebruiken. Eenmaal meester over de camera dan is het een stuk prettiger vertoeven in deze wereld. (In een komende video-les zal ik de werking van de camera uitvoerig uitleggen.)

I finally had a chance to stop by a goth dancing club that had been recommended to me: Darkside. I found myself feeling a little under dressed amongst the crowd, and so I throw on a black corset that a friend had sent me to wear to a party I never made it to the weekend before. Next, I ask everyone if it s OK for me to record them and I receive a general spattering of approval from the crowd. So I fly around to one side and get a nice longshot of the whole group. Things are getting curiouser and curiouser, and this Alice In Wonderland feeling isn t going away anytime soon. Last weekend I had what has to be my coolest in-world experience ever. Now there are a series of Second Life Islands constituting an in-world Exploratorium, and I was lucky enough to spend an evening with the curator a few nights ago. In this clip, Splo Curator Patio Plasma shows me one of the exhibits. This exhibit is typical of the great optical illusion exhibits of the Exploratorium in meatspace. Teleport Now to Aren s Machinima Studio! - http://slurl.com/secondlife/Slackstreet/63/146/602/ I invited Aren Mandela (Michael Verdi) to meet me over at Ryce Broderick s place to check out the Mefeedia Video Kiosk. Today s movie comes to us fresh from Mandela s Lab after I had teleported (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Slackstreet/63/146/602/) there. At first, I couldn t see a screen, but was instead in a perfectly white room. Then I heard a robot saying: Besides, I m a freakin robot videoblogging from Second Life, and I m hosting the video to Blip TV and posting on a Word Press Blog with an RSS feed and everything. I m firing on all cylinders baby! It doesn t get any more Web 2.0 than that. Hanging out at Ryce Broderick s Place with Aren Mandala Aren (Michael) using very sophisticated methods for his machinima, which like the more traditional Machinima you may have come across. I will be covering these tools gradually, over the coming weeks and months, but I wanted to provide you with the necessary links now, just in case you felt like getting rolling on it yourself. Here s how he does it: Capture with iShowU (Mac only) using the photoJPEG codec on a Mac. Edit in Final Cut Pro with my sequence set to use the jpeg codec. Export still frames where someone is talking and use a program called Crazy Talk (PC only) to morph the mouths to follow the voice. Import the avi files from Crazy talk into Final Cut Pro, and keyframe the moving mouths over top of my moving video. (This part is very labor intensive.) Do the sound work - music, foley sound effects etc. Export to the various sizes you need for the web. Remember to tag those Second Life Videos accordingly when you upload them to your favorite hosting site. We ve noticed a large amount of Second Life Video Feeds being added to Mefeedia. I like to think of it as Videoblogging for Avatars. I ve been hanging out over there, on and off, for the last few months, but I haven t gone very far because it s hard to know where to go and Second Life s Search functions have yet to be effectively enabled. So far, I ve had to be lucky enough to stumble across the few places I ve been able to find, so I ve decided to start keeping track of my visits using SL s built-in video capture feature, and visit, record, and vlog a new locale for every day of Videobloggingweek 2007. I ll always provide a slurl (a second life url ) for each location I visit, so you can teleport there easily if you d like. In today s clip, I teleported from this mefeedia record into Second Life s designated area for non-profits, Commonwealth Island (Teleport Now) which is described as a commonspace for Progressive organizations. For music, I chose one of my own Creative Commons licensed remixes from CC Mixter. Remember to include the slurl for your location within the description when you upload your own Second Life videos to your preferred hosting site, so that others may teleport to that location if they wish straight from that video s Mefeedia record. You can find your location s coordinates in the middle top of your Second Life application window.
