Quirkles KOLR 10 Timothy Tornado Experiment
from recent posts - blip.tv (beta) July 25, 2008
Timothy Tornado, one of The Quirkles, and Terri Johnson demonstrate how to make different types of simulated tornado experiments on the KOLR 10 morning news show. The Quirkles books are an educational series that offer a fresh new way to integrate literacy and science at school or at home. Each book is full of vocabulary builders, character education lessons, and two related science experiments that allow for hands on activities, helping to reinforce the topics that were just read. The series was created by teachers, and each story teaches/reinforces the phonetic sounds that serve as the building blocks for reading, while also making science--earth, physical, and life--fun to learn.

OAS 185 The True Love of Learning with Aaron Stern Part 2
from Omni Art Salon 21st Century Art Podcast July 25, 2008
Jeffrey has a fascinating conversation with Aaron Stern, Founder, Executive Director and Core Faculty of the Academy For the Love of Learning in Santa Fe. As designer of the core curriculum at the Academy, Aaron is also a composer, performer, educator and former dean of the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago. Aaron consults with educational, arts, spiritual and social-change organizations and communities, around the world and is also trained and certified as a transpersonal therapist. A brainchild of a special relationship that Aaron had with the late musical genius Leonard Bernstein, the Academy for the Love of Learning draws on a wide, multidisciplinary spectrum of resources: educational philosophy and practice, the arts, transpersonal studies, contemplative traditions, earth-based wisdom, body-centered practices, psychotherapy, organizational consulting, and the wisdom distilled from personal experience. The scholar in residence at the Academy is American priest and theological exponent of Creation Spirituality Matthew Fox. Creation Spirituality is a movement grounded in the mystical philosophies of medieval visionaries Hildegard of Bingen, Thomas Aquinas, Meister Eckhart and Nicholas of Cusa. Author of twenty-eight books on philosophy, religion, and spirituality, Matthew Fox’s most recent book, The A.W.E. Project: Reinventing Education, Reinventing the Human has led him into an increased engagement with issues impacting the education of children, something very dear to the heart of The Academy and Aaron Sterns vision. In Aaron’s and the Academy’s view, who we are as human beings is indicated by the depth of our openness to life, our engagement with our process of learning, and our self-awareness and capacity to be as fully awake as imaginable with one another. because of this viewpoint, the Academy is strongly experiential and calls forth a high degree of self-reflection, both individual and collective. This ground of deepening self-awareness provides the stability and freedom from which right action can grow. I think you will find my conversation with Aaron warm, stimulating and uplifting because he is dedicated to living a life focused on the highest aspects of the human experience and bringing out the best in others so that they too can really enjoy the love of learning that is the deepest of human birthright’s. Show 241 Part 2 of 2. Islam: What the West Needs to Know. Audio version of the film documentary.
from American Conservative University Podcast July 23, 2008
Show 241 Part 2 of 2. Islam: What the West Needs to Know. Audio version of the film documentary. To see the free video visit Google Video - Islam: What the West needs to know. ACU highly recommends this documentary. Documentary description-An examination of Islam, violence, and the fate of the non-Muslim world. Virtually every major Western leader has over the past several years expressed the view that Islam is a peaceful religion and that those who commit violence in its name are fanatics who misinterpret its tenets. This claim, while widely circulated, rarely attracts serious public examination. Now, the question is finally being asked, Is Islam itself violent? Through an examination of the Koran, other Islamic texts, and the example of the prophet Muhammad, this documentary establishes, through a sober and methodical presentation, that violence against non-Muslims is and has always been an integral aspect of Islam. Jihad, while best translated as struggle, as represented in the Koran and the life of Muhammad, means nothing less than organized warfare against unbelievers. Relying primarily on Islam's own sources, this documentary demonstrates that Islam is a violent, expansionary ideology that seeks the destruction or subjugation of other faiths, cultures, and systems of government. The documentary consists of original interviews, citations from Islamic texts, Islamic artwork, computer-animated maps, footage of Western leaders, and Islamic television broadcasts. Its tone is sober, methodical, and compelling. Features interviews with noted experts on Islam including Robert Spencer, Serge Trifkovic, Bat Ye'or, Abdullah Al-Araby, and former terrorist Walid Shoebat.

In this episode of Kurt’s Photoshop Tips & Tutorials, we are going to go over the process of creating an HDR image using the tools available in Photoshop, and then we are going to go back and create an HDR image with the Photomatix Photoshop plug-in.
