Depois das cinco edições de 2007 (Bossa Nova, Jovem Guarda, O Cassino da Urca, A Vanguarda Paulista, Os Festivais) e das duas já realizadas este ano (Black Music, Rock Anos 80), a série Era Iluminada, do SESC Pompéia, em São Paulo, enfocou a Tropicália. O show - que acontece dias 18, 19 e 20 de julho no Teatro - reuniu no mesmo palco Tom Zé, a sambista carioca Roberta Sá, o gaúcho Flávio Basso (Júpiter Maçã) e a pernambucana Isaar (que cantava com o DJ Dolores), sob a direção musical do baiano Lucas Santtana. Santtana montou uma banda especialmente para o projeto. O grupo é formado por Curumin (bateria), Regis Damasceno (Cidadão Instigado, guitarra), Lucas Martins (banda da Céu, baixo), Astronauta Pinguim (teclados vintage e piano), Gui Mendonça (Guizado, trompete e fluguelhorn), Mauricio Zacharias (trombone), Mauricio Alves (ex-Mestre Ambrosio, na percussão). Santtana esteve na guitarra, cavaquinho e escaleta. This song, from "The Yeoman of the Guard", is a variation on the old song, "Come And I Will Sing You" or "The Twelve Apostles." There are several songs in the folk tradition that use this method of adding on extra lines until you end up with a very long final verse. Some examples are "Green Grow the Rushes", "The Twelve Days of Christmas", "The Rattling Bog" and "The Court of King Caractacus." The song tells the old story of a man who is rejected by the woman he loves, as she is aiming higher. When she in turn is rejected, he is quite happy to take her back.
