Volunteer Abroad in South Africa: Volunteering OpportunitiesVolunteering Abroad in South Africa: Has been called the adventure capital of the world, with its natural beauty and wildlife that leaves visitors awe-struck. The rich culture, the freedom struggle and the friendly people make this a fascinating nation to explore. With the sounds of the African drum beat; the bright sun, stars and city streets; the natural beauty of the landscape, South Africa is an inviting location and safe for volunteering projects. South Africa is an invigorating and multifaceted country. With its post-apartheid struggle still evident, there is a sense of energy and progress in the air. The infrastructure is continuously improving, the weather is pleasant and the wildlife opportunities leave visitors awe-struck. But if you want to understand South Africa, you'll have to deal with the full spectrum; poverty and the AIDS orphan pandemic. Our programs provide the opportunity to participate in the social and academic development of children and young people. By living and working among the people you'll be able to appreciate the complexity of the nation s past and present, and help to give the younger generation the tools they need for the future.Contribute your time as a teaching assistant in a pre-school and primary school. Work in an orphanage or community children s center. Get involved with the motivation and development of young people s lives and ultimately help to bridge gaps and influence change in the New South Africa . Our programs allow you to take part in meaningful community service work, while discovering the people, sights, smells and tastes of South Africa. This is a great opportunity to make life-long friends, learn a new culture from the inside out and discover that one person really can make a difference. Volunteer Abroad in Zambia: Volunteering OpportunitiesVolunteering Abroad in Zambia: The republic of Zambia is a landlocked country in south central Africa whose population exceeds 10 million. Due to its high elevation, Zambia has a mild tropical climate. The weather is so pleasant that is has been nicknamed "The air-conditioned state". Almost one-third of the country is given over to national parks and game reserves, which is home to some of the most abundant animal populations in Africa including big game animals. The major draw to Zambia is the astonishing Victoria Falls, the largest waterfall in the world, dropping over 330 ft below. Zambia is one of the more politically stable countries in Southern Africa with potential to be one of the richest countries on the continent. Today, Zambia is one of the world's poorest and indebted nations with a steady influx of refugees, the effects of HIV/AIDS, poverty and corruption, and food shortages that leaves the country in crisis. In Zambia there are 75,000 children who are homeless orphans, many affected by HIV/AIDS. At least 50 per cent of Zambia's populations are expected to die of HIV related diseases in the next three years. Life expectancy is Zambia is only 32.5 years.Thousands of children in Zambia live in a land where extreme poverty is the norm, many children are orphaned by AIDS, health care is woefully inadequate and public education is substandard and not free. One thing is clear. Children such as these need our help. Our programs in Lusaka and the surrounding towns allow you to take part in meaningful community service work, while discovering the people, sights, smells and tastes of Zambia. Volunteering in Zambia is a way to totally immerse yourself in African culture. This is a great opportunity to make life-long friends, learn a new culture from the inside out and discover that one person really can make a difference. Volunteer Abroad in Tanzania: Volunteering OpportunitiesVolunteering Abroad in Tanzania: is the largest of the East Africa countries (i.e. Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania) and offers spectacular landscape from the coastal plains to the east; the inland saucer-shaped plateau; and the highlands and the coastal islands. The country is named after Tanganyika, its mainland part, and the Zanzibar islands off its east coast. Gaining independence in 1961, Tanzania is a stable, peaceful country with few tribal or regional divisions. Tanzania draws many first-time Africa travelers because of its well developed tourist infrastructure. It is a land where you're most likely to spot large numbers of big game, plus world-class views of Mount Kilimanjaro. The country is recognized both in terms of wildlife and beauty. With national parks extending over some 33,660 sq km (13,000 sq miles), Tanzania has more land devoted to national parks and game reserves than any other wildlife destination in the world. Some of Tanzania s ecologically significant wildlife parks include the famous Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti National Park in the north, and Selous Game Reserve and Mikumi National Park in the south. Gombe National Park in the west is known as the site of Dr. Jane Goodall's studies of chimpanzee behavior. In addition to its stunning landscape, Tanzania is home to approximately 120 tribal groups. Tribal diversity is respected and far from being a source of separation, Tanzanians place a high value on their country s multicultural heritage. We have programs available in the Mwanza and Arusha, In these districts, 90% of its population lives in rural areas, and subsistence agriculture is the major activity. The poverty experienced in these rural areas is not just a lack of money but also the inability to access basic needs, such as health care and health facilities as well as voluntary HIV counseling and testing. Despite having a lack of such basic needs, the Tanzanian people are world-renowned for their friendliness. Most volunteers are humbled by the everyday happy attitudes of the local people. Our programs allow you to take part in meaningful community service work, while discovering the people, sights, smells and tastes of Tanzania. Volunteering in Tanzania is a way to totally immerse yourself in Eastern African culture and gain a broader view of the world. This is a great opportunity to make life-long friends, learn a new culture from the inside out and discover that one person really can make a difference.
