Gena Festival Une histoire L’aventure commence en 1998 sur un coup de tête: une petite scène, quelques spectateurs pour une soirée de musique. L’ambiance festive et originale du Gena Festival est déjà présente. Dès lors elle ne le quittera plus. Avec les années, la structure se professionnalise – autour d’un comité bénévole - pour répondre à l’expansion toujours croissante du festival. En quelques années, le festival passe d’une à deux scènes, puis d’un à deux jours. Les festivaliers, charmés par l’atmosphère particulière du Gena Festival se prennent au jeu. Une ambition Le Gena Festival est avant tout un festival de musique différent. Au mois de juin, il ouvre la grande marche des festivals estivaux, sans rien avoir à envier à ses grand frères : gratuité, découverte et diversité en ont fait cette recette explosive. Le public apprécie, suit et en redemande. Chaque année, le nombre de festivaliers croît, nous confortant dans nos choix artistiques, nous poussant à développer un projet toujours plus créatif, une programmation toujours plus pointue, sans ôter au festival son ambiance de fête si particulière et son identité première. Un avenir Après une année anniversaire, qui a vu le Gena Festival Open Air fêter sa dixième édition, le prochain opus est en préparation. Sans révolution, mais tout en évolution, cette nouvelle édition permettra de pérenniser les acquis et d’asseoir, de manière plus durable encore, notre manifestation au sein des festivals estivaux. En raison de la pléthore de manifestations estivales, et pour éviter la concurrence de l’Euro08, le Gena Festival Open Air se déroulera cette année au mois de juillet. Malgré ce changement de date, il ressemblera aux dernières éditions : deux jours de musique et de découvertes, deux scènes pour accueillir le plus grand nombre d’artistes… Plein-les-Watts Le Plein-les-Watts Festival passe cette année à deux jours de concerts sur la butte de Plan-les-Ouates, avec la collaboration à l organisation du service de l action sociale, le service culturel, le service des espaces verts, la voirie, la sécurité municipale, le Locados et l Association Latcho Drom. Nous engageons à cette occasion des jeunes de la commune au montage, au bar, à l accueil, assistants aux régies son et lumières, caméras, technique scène, démontage dans le but de leur offrir une expérience et parfois de permettre une réinsertion pour ceux qui sont en difficulté sociale. La programmation du Plein-les-Watts Festival 2008 est terminée. Nous recevrons le Vendredi 15 Août les groupes : Cézigues (Chanson, Genève), Recto Verso (Chanson, PLO), WSK (Ska, PLO) et Dreadlocksless (Reggae-ska, Vevey). Le Samedi 16 Août sera une grande soirée reggae, nous recevrons les valaisans d Inna Crisis, qui seront accompagnés par les groupes Mosquito (Reggae, Genève), The Rudness Crew (Reggae-ragga, PLO) et Green Vibe (Ragga/Hip-Hop, Lausanne). Monniati Festival Depuis quelques années, nous assistons de plus en plus à un engouement des artistes et des acteurs culturels pour la création artistique en résidence. Ce sont généralement des salles de concert ou des institutions culturelles qui proposent aux artistes de profiter pendant une période donnée (de 3-4 jours à un mois, en général) d’une mise à disposition complète ou partielle de leur infrastructure technique et organisationnelle, dans le but de fournir un cadre de création confortable au groupe de musique, à la compagnie de théâtre, de cirque, etc. Le Monniati Festival qui est, comme vous le savez certainement, basé sur la découverte a décidé d’appliquer ce procédé à son festival, en organisant de plus une réelle collaboration, sous forme de projets communs, avec d’autres artistes du monde de la scène et des arts visuels.

En mars 2008, VAGALATSCHK sort Marina, un disque six titres au son à la fois urbain et campagnard ; un son qui sent simultanément la meule de foin frais dans laquelle la fringante jeunesse aimerait se renverser et la cave enfumée suintant la bière. L ambiance intime du folk acoustique rejoint les sonorités pop rock plus intenses pour faire sonner les textes inspirés par des voyages réels et imaginés et par la vie de tous les jours DJ Toots Né le 14 Mars 1988, il commença la percussion à l’age de 12 ans. Après 5 ans de percussions au conservatoire de musique de Genève il accomplit 3 ans de batterie en indépendant. Il commença à faire Dj dès la fin de l’été 2005, après avoir travaillé 2 mois pour la ville de Genève. Tout de suite accroché par ce nouvel instrument, il entraîna ardemment le « scratch » au début pour en suite commencer son parcours à la salle universitaire de « l’Arcade » où il y fit ces premières prestations. Il invita des chanteurs de Rap genevois et des groupes de breakdance à ses soirées « Buddha Muffin Party ». A côté de sa vie de nuit, Dj Toots se lança assez rapidement dans l’élaboration d’un cd coordonné par lui-même et produit avec la collaboration de son ami « Jo » alias Jo2plainp avec qui il enregistre encore aujourd’hui des morceaux. Le CD, « Nourriture Spirituelle », porte sur la tendance violente qu’a prise le hip-hop d’aujourd’hui, la critique et la pense différemment. Tous les morceaux sont exclusifs et pensés autour de ce même thème. Le CD comporte une douzaine de chansons et y sont conviés plusieurs groupes et solistes suisses et français de la scène underground. Sortie fin 2007 !!!! Dans le domaine du Dj’ing, il organisa quelques « scratch session » avec d’autres DJ tels que Dj Skd ou encore Dj Alroy. Aujourd’hui Dj Toots fait son chemin en passant par exemple par le Carpe Diem, l’Ethno, l’Unik Club, Le Piment Rouge (Artamis), Les Bossons (Lausanne), La Vogue de Carouge, Le Shakers (Genève), Le Bistroy (Lyon), La Fête de la Musique (scène de Calvin, 2007), L’Undertown ou Bons-en-Chablais où il y fit des soirées ou/et des concerts avec le groupe genevois de hip-hop « Le S’1DROM », avec qui il travaille encore aujourd hui ( www.rootscore.com/s1drom). De plus, en Août 2007 à Berlin il eu l’occasion d’enregistrer un medley live du premier album des PUPPETMASTAZ, qu’ils jouent aujourd’hui dans leurs divers scènes à travers l’Europe. Each additional mile-per-gallon starts costing more and more. GM realized there had to be a better way to do this. They realized it s time to get away from the oily bits of an engine. They are placing their future in mild hybrids, strong hybrids, plug-in hybrids, extended-range electric vehicles like the Volt, and fuel cells. Being the realist that he is, Bob believes that there is a segment of the Environmental Movement that is against personal mobility. Bob s theory is that you can have a car that eats CO2, gets 200 miles per gallon and sprouts fresh daisies out of the tailpipe and it will still be criticized for insects that are killed on the windshield. Basically, someone somewhere will find something to complain about. The question was asked why there is no concentration on creating a hybrid type of vehicle that would be considered luxury . The feeling is that many more people would buy an energy-efficient vehicle if only it were more stylish , and met their quality standards. Sadly, many people could care less about the emissions, nor the fuel economy of a car. They simply drive what they feels looks the best, or makes THEM look the best. There is a huge untapped market of people who have money to spend, and are going Green. However, they don t want to trade in their Benz for say a Prius. Bob stated that even Mercedes is looking at Lithium Ion technology. Even though they may not be on the market, nor talked much about these types of cars ARE in development. Mercedes is saying that they may be charging around $80,000 for these cars, but Lutz feels it will be more along the lines of $100,000 and up. These will then become the sort of ethically pure rich person s car. One example of these cars is the Tesla Roadster. It is a sleek looking little car, and is being touted as getting the equivalent of 256 miles per gallon. If you decide to reserve one now, you ll lock in the $109,000 price tag with a $5000.00 reservation fee. For another $55,000.00, you can lock in a production slot and delivery time. You must then make your color and interior selections AND pay the final balance due three months prior to delivery. No matter the price tag on something like these, they will sell out. There are two types of people who buy hybrid cars: those who truly care about the environment and/or save money, and those who are going Green in order to impress their friends or fans. Face it, it s hip to be Green. So the question is: should Cadillac (a subsidiary of GM) be making an equivalent of the new Chevy Volt? The answer is, of course, absolutely. An important environmental and economic concern for natural gas producers is obtaining water, disposing of it, and recycling the water used in resource plays. Industry experts, including Bill Stevens, executive vice president with TEAP; Brent Halldorson, COO of Aqua-Pure; Andree Griffin, the Forth Worth Basin geology manager for XTO Energy; Mark Whitley, senior vice president of Range Resource Corp. and Dr. Roberts Mace, director of groundwater resources for the Texas Water Development Board, visit WETV s studios to examine the technology that makes water a viable new tool in production and manufacturing and to address issues of efficiency. Although water is often mentioned in the context of wells, in fact only 10 percent of the total water used is for drilling, while the remaining 90 percent is involved in fracing, or injection into a natural gas well.
