August 23, 2008

Author: Natator Added: Fri, 22 Aug 2008 20:35:56 -0800 Duration: 592Unless you frame every shot perfectly (can anyone outside of a studio?) you will inevitably want to reframe some of your photos where your subject is not quite where you want them, or maybe to take out distracting objects close to the edges. If these adjustments can be made by retaining a rectangular section of your photo, and disregarding the rest, then that is exactly when cropping comes into play. Here is a guide to cropping your photos using Photoshop Elements, which can be equally applied in actual Photoshop. All my videos will be available, still for free, in high qualigy format shortly. Leave a comment, feedback or subscribe to my newsletter at http://darksideofthelens.com to gain automatic access to these when they are available.

However, it need not be that way. Here is an explanation of the RGB color space, which you will most likely find yourself using. Welcome to the very first episode of ShutterSpeed the Channel 10 Digital Photography and Imaging Show. On each episode of ShutterSpeed we'll help you understand your camera gear so that you can take better photos and show you new and cool ways to edit, share and display your images. In this first episode Tim Grey, Michael Palermiti & Bill Crow join me in the studio to discuss online video storage and photo editing tools. We also get back to basics and talk about the principles of photography and what to look for in a digital camera. I also visit the home studio of award winning photographer Phil Borges. Phil shows me the equipment he uses in the field - including his home-made lighting rig - and talks about some of the techniques he uses to capture his magnificent portraits. We hope to make ShutterSpeed a regular series here on Channel 10. For comments on the program or ideas and suggestions for future episodes please email us at shutterspeed@on10.net

from Channel 10
February 10, 2008

The Eye-Fi Card is a wireless memory card. It automatically uploads pictures from your digital camera to your PC or Mac and to your favorite photo sharing, printing, blogging or social networking site.  Here's why this is so great.  Because you don't have to drag any wires and have access to a computer to share great pics.  And it's all for under a hundred bucks.  You can't take video yet with the 2GB SD card but that certainly is the future.  They have over twenty partners for photo-sharing including Flickr and Windows Live.  I chat with one of the founders of Eye-Fi.

I did this because I was discussing the idea with a friend, and she said, "Ooooh, no, I couldn't do that, it is too technical for me" so, I showed her just like this video, and then she said, "Oh, I COULD do that after all"
