The "Harry and Paul show showed a Filipino domestic worker in a maid's uniform dancing provocatively in front of a man in an attempt to seduce him. Racist skit reflects Pinoy migrant plight The "racist" portrayal of a Filipina domestic worker in a comedy show of the British Broadcasting Corp. (BBC) was only reflective of the true plight of Overseas Filipino Workers. Lack of opportunities for comfortable income force Filipinos to work overseas where they face racism, discrimination at the workplace, sexual harassment, rape, and other violent attacks. In addition, due to the credit squeeze banks are less likely to lend unless you have a perfect credit score and I have heard banks freezing existing home equity lines of credit so parents are no longer able to borrow. Many parents/students are not aware of the Continued Access to Student Loans legislation passed mid May that went into effect July 1 2008. the schools did a terrible job of making this known. This increased the limits students can borrow and the terms which parents can repay loans. many more parents are looking to take student and parent loans under the federal programs to help manage the cashflow needed to pay tuition bills. - John Hough, CFP + I m a graduate student, and I d like to be a college professor someday. In order to do that, I have to pay for 3-5 years of graduate school after I finish my Master s in History. With the current financial state, my wife and I don t think we ll be able to pay for this, so we re not sure what we re going to do, she also has to go back to school (as per New York State s requirements for all teachers to get their Master s), but we don t know if we can pay for that. Dutton starred in and executive produced the FOX comedy-drama Roc, produced by HBO, for which he received several NAACP Image Award nominations. He has numerous television credits, including the miniseries The Murder of Mary Phagan, The 60s, Deadlocked and Aftershock: Earthquake in New York. His episodic appearances include House M.D., The Sopranos and the HBO series Oz, among others. He won Emmy Awards for his guest-starring roles in Without a Trace and The Practice. Dutton is a veteran of numerous feature films such as Q Alien3; Menace II Society; Rudy; A Low Down Dirty Shame; Cry, the Beloved Country; Nick of Time; A Time to Kill; Get on the Bus; Cookies Fortune (for which he received an Independent Spirit Award nomination); Gothika; and Secret Window. This winter, he can be seen in the new John Sayles film Honeydripper. Dutton made his directorial debut in 1997 with the HBO movie First Time Felon. He also directed the award-winning HBO miniseries The Corner, for which he received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special in 2000. Duttons feature film directorial debut was the 2004 Paramount Pictures film Against the Ropes. In 2006, he directed multiple episodes of the Showtime series Sleeper Cell, for which he received a Directors Guild of America Award nomination. Most recently, he directed the Lifetime Television movie Racing for Time and the pilot Under for A&E. Dutton recently finished shooting the Screen Gems feature Legion, co-starring Paul Bettany and Dennis Quaid. The Head of the Charles Regatta will be held October 18-19 here in Cambridge, Mass., on the Charles River. I am helping out with transportation of the umpires for the race, which will involve more than 7,000 rowers. I've been working on preparations from Denver until yesterday, when I arrived in Cambridge in time for the weekly meeting of volunteer chairs working on various aspects of the event. It's mind-boggling that a cast of volunteers can make so much happen so smoothly.
