The very first test video of WorkFast TV on Blip

A couple years ago, we were working on implementing automatic encoding to Flash video for blip.tv users. Back then, every kilobit counted, so we decided to encode the audio track at 64 kbps mono. This way we had a single audio channel - encoding in stereo would nearly double the size of the audio track. (for the audio geeks - we weren t sure if the encoder would do true stereo or joint stereo channels, so we decided to err on the side of caution.) Nowadays, we have things like fiber optic Internet connections to the home, dual-core processors, and toilets that flush. With all that in mind, an extra 100 or so kbps per video doesn t seem like such a big deal. So we decided to splurge. Starting yesterday at around 6 PM EST, all Flash video will be encoded with stereo audio! Enjoy. (first person to identify the band referenced in the post title gets a cookie.)

My love of Blip just got obsessive. The RSS feeds that Blip provide with enclosures, displays beautifully on Wikieducator - helping that particular MediaWiki to come alive. Note: MediaWikis will need to have the RSS extension included - speak to the adminstrator.This screenrecording goes through the steps involved in embedding a series of videos from Blip into Wikieducator through RSS.
