This is Dhalia's idle stance. It's meant to be a looping animation, but the only video editing program I have (Windows Movie Maker) kept on glitching and causing black areas to appear between the loops. If you want to see it looping, just download it using one of those FireFox plugins and set your media player to loop (it loops perfectly in Windows Media Player). Over twenty years ago, I began making films, as a kid I tried the genres I was passionate about, in this case science fiction and film noir. I found this old 3/4" tape a few days ago, got it to play in an old machine and enjoyed seeing Tom Konkle the action detective! With me friends at the time writer-actors Lee Torres and Jon Miles, and this time actor Paul Micsan and Brant Fagan we started playing around with what we could do. Mind you this was before any digital equipment, computer editing even the internet, but we had fun and learned. When I was in a shot we either filmed each other or locked the camera down. It amazing to look back at another lifetime ago just starting out, I added the titles I'd always meant to put on there and put on some original music I did. First of two projects from when we were all kids I have found and put up to share with friends.

Many years ago as a beginning filmmaker and actor I made this film to learn and pay tribute to the films I was passionate about at the time like Blade Runner. This was made in the analog age with my two friends at the time, Jon Miles and Lee Torres who, like me, shot it when they weren't in it with me and got the overall look and feel of the experiment. Now, 20 years later, I find the old 3/4" videotape in a box, put orig music and titles and share us a lifetime ago. There will be one more episode to follow....

So a lifetime ago in the early 80's I was starting to experiment with shooting and directing, I was in film school, the equipment was crude and at the time I was obsessed with science fiction and film noir. Obviously, seeing Blade Runner really made an impression on me. (it is now considered a classic it was not at the time) I found this tape in my garage some 20 years later and got an old 3/4 inch deck working to play it. For the first time in all those years I saw the early Tom as Ric Schaeffer and my very talented friends Jon Miles as Nick Phillips and Lee Torres as Martin who, like me, shot when they weren't in it with me and just knew what we were looking for. When years later we moved to Hollywood Lee moved with me and Jon went to NY. I had edited this as a film student in 1987 and with them done everything on the film.

Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou is a Greek composer of electronic, new age and classical music and musical performer, under the artist name Vangelis Papathanassiou or just Vangelis (short for Evangelos). He is best known for his Academy Award winning score for the film Chariots of Fire, and scores for the films Blade Runner and 1492: Conquest of Paradise. The "Blade Runner" soundtrack is a dark melodic combination of classic composition and futuristic synthesizers which mirrors the film-noir retro-future envisioned by Ridley Scott. Vangelis, fresh from his Academy Award winning score from "Chariots of Fire", composed and performed the music on his synthesizers. He also made use of various chimes and the haunting sax solo by Dick Morrissey on "The Love Theme From Blade Runner". The Handyguys discuss annual spring maintenance for your lawn mower For many of us in the northern parts of the USA, it is that time of year when we get the lawn mower out for the first time. Most of us probably use tradition walk behind mowers with combustion engines. Like our cars, these tools require maintenance to keep them humming along from year to year. The Handyguys discuss how you can handle these basic maintenance items yourself: We start off by talking about mower safety and some crazy mower stories before we get into the basics of spring mower tune-up. Basic Spring mower tune up consists of checking and maybe replacing the spark plug, cleaning or replacing the air filter, sharpening your blade, cleaning the deck and changing the oil. Changing the spark plug – The spark plug only needs to be changed if its black, burnt, or damaged. If it looks clean when you remove it only replace it if you are having trouble with the mower running smooth or not starting. This picture is an example of a badly fouled plug that needs replaced. Replacing an air filter – make sure you get the correct air filter. There are many sizes and styles. The filter can be cleaned with compressed air or a brush. If its really bad just go ahead and replace it. Some filters are foam and can be washed in warm soapy water. Do not re-install a washed filter until its completely dry. Sharpening a blade – You can use a file or a grinder to sharpen your blade. Make sure you use the same angle as the previous sharpening. Handyguy Brian got this heavy duty grinder for only $25, including the stand, at an auction. An inexpensive grinder will be fine for this task. A Dremel tool or even just a plain old file will do the trick as well. A sharp blade makes a better cut and helps keep your grass healthy. Cleaning the mower deck – Sorry I don’t have an after picture. Use a scraper and a wire brush to clean up the mower deck. This is especially important for mulching mowers. If you have rust, sand that and hit it with some primer and paint. Changing the oil – Do this every year. Make sure you use the proper oil and the correct amount. Most mowers will use SAE 30 oil. Do not use 10W-30, its different and will likely void any warranty you may have. Regardless – Check your owners manual first for the correct oil.
