What, Me Worry?
from Our Daily Bread July 03, 2008
Whenever a preacher begins to talk about worry, I sense a pair of eyes staring at me. Without even turning my head, I know that my husband is looking at me to see if I’m paying attention. . . .

Daily in the Word for Thursday, July 3, 2008
from Daily in the Word July 03, 2008
God’s Longsuffering by Dr. Paul Chappell “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:8–9 This world’s blessings are temporal, but God’s blessings will last forever. Charles Spurgeon and Joseph Parker both had churches in London in the 19th century. On one occasion, Parker commented on the poor condition of children admitted to Spurgeon's orphanage. It was reported to Spurgeon however, that Parker had criticized the orphanage itself. Spurgeon blasted Parker the next week from the pulpit. The attack was printed in the newspapers and became the talk of the town. People flocked to Parker's church the next Sunday to hear his rebuttal. “I understand Dr. Spurgeon is not in his pulpit today, and this is the Sunday they use to take an offering for the orphanage. I suggest we take a love offering here instead.” The crowd was delighted. The ushers had to empty the collection plates three times. Later that week there was a knock at Parker's study. It was Spurgeon. “You know Parker, you have practiced grace on me. You have given me not what I deserved, you have given me what I needed.” When you accepted Christ as your Saviour, Christ gave you not what you deserved but what you needed in order to spend eternity with Him. He showed you His mercy and grace that day. But think of the patience God had with you the years before you were saved. Have you ever wondered why God had such patience with you when you deserved judgment? Do you wonder why He shows mercy to those in the world today? We can look at the world around us and wonder why it seems as if God is not bringing judgment on the wicked. Why do the ungodly seem to prosper? Why do Christians go through trials yet those who live for themselves are seemingly blessed? Many times we can become discouraged or upset by comparing our lives to those in the world. But Christian, realize that our God is a God of patience. He detests the evil and wickedness of our society, yet He is longsuffering so that others may turn to Him. There are scoffers and mockers in the world. They mock Christ’s return, His Word, and our faith as believers. There will always be those who reject the Word of God and mock Him. Yet Christ still loves them. He died for them just as He died for you and me! Just as Christ loves those who scoff and mock Him, so we should love them. When others mock us or scoff at our beliefs, we should show them the patience Christ showed His mockers while He was on earth, “And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him. And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee? And many other things blasphemously spake they against him” (Luke 22:63–65). Have you ever wondered why God does not punish those who mock Him? Do not be discouraged by those who do wrong and prosper. God promises to bless His children! Rather than comparing your life to theirs, pray for them and treat them with kindness. Ask God to turn their hearts to Him. Take time today to read Psalm 37. Never feel discouraged about living for God, for only God can provide true riches and blessings. Responding To The Chatroom Holy War
from The Joshua P. Allem Podcast July 02, 2008
Last Friday was an excellent show, but little did I know a holy war was being waged in my chatroom! Those of you who were there can certainly testify to the cannon fodder. It's a real shame when someone comes into your chatroom, proclaims to be a Christian and then behaves like everything but. I spent all weekend thinking about it and just had to respond during the following broadcast which was Monday. Snooper, Wild Phil, Scott and Sir Malachi all weighed in. Originally recorded on June 30, 2008. PODCAST VERSION

People Making Up Their Own Jesus
from The Joshua P. Allem Podcast July 02, 2008
Snooper brought up a new side of Jesus that I've never heard. He got this little bit of gossip from a libtard, so I wouldn't put too much stock in this. People have been recreating Jesus in their own image for years to feel closer to him. I suppose God becoming a man wasn't enough, he should have become several men and women of various ages, races, sexual identities and theologies to include everyone. The arrogance of man never ceases to amaze me. Originally recorded on June 27, 2008. PODCAST VERSION

Kids Protest The Price Of Gas
from The Joshua P. Allem Podcast July 02, 2008
You read that correctly folks. Two children between the ages of 7 and 9 marched up and down their home streets with signs protesting the price of gasoline. Why? Because their mother stopped paying the cable bill and blamed it on the price of gas. I wonder how much bottled water they drank while they marched up and down the hot pavement? The cost of 1 gallon of gasoline is equal to the cost of 2 gallons of bottled water. WATER... the most abundant resource on the planet. Originally recorded on June 25, 2008. PODCAST VERSION
