From : Omni Art Salon 21st Century Art Podcast
Jeffrey has a lovely conversation with Richard Rudis, owner of Illuminarium Convergence, a purveyor of culturally significant artifacts from the Himalayan Kingdoms of Tibet, Nepal, India and Bhutan. Richard is an American practitioner of the Vajrayana school of Tibetan Buddhism and a long time pilgrim of sacred sites and teachings across Asia. Having studied Eastern philosophy for over thirty years, Richard was granted refuge in the Buddha from His Holiness Gyalwa Karmapa while in Tibet. He teaches Buddhist Dharma and conducts ‘Vibrational Sound Healing Workshops,’ using traditional Himalayan instruments. He is also a researcher and writer on the subject of Tibetan Buddhism vibrational sound healing. Richard will be conducting an evening event at the upcoming International Sound healing Conference called the “Gong Bath - A Sojourn into Vibrational Sound Healing.” The Gong Bath is a mind altering, dynamic meditation experience designed to soothe, inspire, heal and awaken spirit. It begins with the intrinsic harmonizing properties of ancient Himalayan Singing Bowls. The voices of the bowls pave a path into which the transformational sound waves of the Ghia Gong soon blends. This remarkable instrument is precisely tuned to match the vibratory signature of planet Earth in her oscillating dance with the Sun. Near eternal movements resonate at 136.1 hz. the frequency of the ‘Universal Chord,’ AUM, the ancient syllable of creation. According to Richard, participants will be bathed with rising and falling rhythms, tonalities and multi-tonal octaves that are naturally revitalizing in character. I think you will find my conversation with Richard most uplifting and informative as we explore many aspects of Tibetan Buddhism and how sound can be used for healing and raising one’s consciousness. It’s a wonderful conversation that opens up many avenues that are rarely exposed from the depth of the Tibetan Buddhist path. From : YouTube :: Tag // soccer
Documentary made by Johan Kramer. Synopsis: The Other Final is about making the impossible happen: of cultural meeting, and social engagement. An old-fashioned story in a modern world. The Other Final tells the story about a remarkable football game, which captured the imagination of the world. It was played on June 30th 2002, the same day that 4.1 billion people were watching the final of the World Cup in Japan and Korea. The game was played by the two lowest ranked Fifa-teams in the world; Bhutan and Montserrat, (numbers 202 and 203 respectively). Bhutan is a remote Himalayan kingdom with the most mountainous terrain in the world and Montserrat is a small Caribbean island with seven active volcanoes. The game was played in the Changlimithang stadium, Thimphu, Bhutan. The film uses football as a device to explore the very different cultures of the two teams involved, but also to show how football can prove to be a global language that unites very different people and countries. By dynamic cutting, the film explores the similarities, and the differences between both cultures, as it follows the build up and preparation for the game. The story is told by people from all levels of both societies, in their own words, to build up a picture of both cultures, their attitudes to sport, and their cultural meeting. The film begins on the island of Montserrat, and follows both teams from the beginning of the project as an idea, through to its culmination at the game itself, attended by 25,000 spectators. Through the film, we are introduced to a variety of people, from a Christian priest in Montserrat, to a group of monks performing traditional music in Bhutan, government ministers, local dignitaries, pop stars. And of course, the football players, most of who are not professional, and for whom the opportunity to take part in this game was a dream come true. What is perhaps most remarkable is that the game took place without commercial sponsors and advertising. This sets it in marked contrast to the World Cup Final, which was a huge commercial gala. The game was free to attend for spectators, and was undertaken in a spirit of good-sportsmanship. In this sense, it was an opportunity for both countries to garner international recognition, and to promote a positive side of their nations, which have more obstacles to development than most. Newspapers and television stations from over fifty countries reported news of the game, proof that there is still an appetite for an old fashioned approach to sport, and that achievement is not always about taking part, sometimes just getting there is an achievement. The Other Final is the inside story of this remarkable event. Author: m0viefanatic Keywords: the other final world cup 2002 bhutan monserrat korea japan soccer football Added: July 18, 2008

The show has monks from Bhutan who perform a cham with horns, drums and cymbals. In one gallery a monk was working on a mandalla. It was an incredible to watch the monk place grains of colored sand, a few at a time to make this beautiful pattern. In in outside area one monk was painting surfboards. Local restaurants come out and have specialty food available for sale For more information about the Honolulu Academy of Arts, goto their website at www.honoluluacademy.org

What makes a place happy? Can't you be unhappy in a happy place, and vice versa? How can you make a place happier? We'll learn what Weiner's investigation reveals. From : Global Pulse
(January 10, 2008) Right now most U.S. media is focused on the drama of the presidential primary elections. But in several other countries the drama of the electoral process has risen to violent and chaotic levels. Kenya is struggling to quell the violence that has turned into ethnic cleansing. Georgia is dealing with a dissolved government only to have the same president elected again, and Bhutan has experienced for the first time the right to vote. Watch as Global Pulse presents a round-up of international elections and the literal fight for a democratic world.nSources: TV5, France; Russia Today, Russia; Al Jazeera English, Doha; ABC News, U.S; NBC News, U.S; Fox News, U.S.
