Sweet Tomatoes from kellybelly.net on May 09, 2008 108 views / likes
The best thing I ve come across lately is called CHDK. CHDK is a firmware enhancement that operates on a number of Canon Cameras. CHDK gets loaded into your camera s memory upon bootup (either manually or automatically). It provides additional functionality beyond that currently provided by the native camera firmware. It s pretty sweet. I haven t really explored the finer details, but the feature that I m excited about is the ability to run scripts. Scripts like time lapse photography. Ever since we lost our Nikon camera in Mexico we haven t had anything (save the computer + webcam) that could do time-lapse photography. Which obviously isn t very practical if I m outside of the house. My trusty(-ish1) Canon A540 doesn t have a time lapse mode. But now it does, and I can make time lapse videos again, and I didn t have to go spend $300 on a new camera. So to celebrate I made this video when we went to dinner tonight: (3.6MB / 00:27) 1It s been draining batteries like crazy lately. I first thought it was that my rechargeables are starting to reach the end of their life, but normal disposable AAs drain just as quick. I don t know

Dinner @ Max & Erma’s from kellybelly.net on March 14, 2008 138 views / likes
Time-lapse video from the iPhone, imagine that. I just stitched together some photos taken using 1Shoot. Though there were only 200MB of photos that were taken I started with 1.5GB of free space something caused the program to stop shooting halfway through our meal. I could have restarted the camera but at that point in time I didn t know there was still plenty of storage space. Next time, I ll know. (5.1MB / 00:39)

KeyLime Cove sneak peek preview from kellybelly.net on February 29, 2008 435 views / likes
I was invited to a grand pre-opening of the new KeyLime Cove waterpark in Gurnee, IL. I won t go into too many details as I have another post coming soon with reviews and photos, but here s a short video of our adventures in the water park. It s just a mashup of short clips we filmed. (13.7 MB / 01:56) I also changed the video format from MP4 to M4V. Mostly because it s been so long since I ve encoded a video I forget the settings I used. So I just picked the Convert to iPhone option. Let me know if you have problems viewing it.

Wii Browser from kellybelly.net on December 22, 2006 306 views / likes
I m running on three hours of sleep right now we ran out to Ikea and Mitsuwa last night and didn t get home and to bed until nearly 1am, and I was up at 4am to go pick my mom up and drive her to O Hare airport. When I got home from the airport I noticed the Wii s light was on (indicating a new message) so I turned it on and checked the mail. We had a message that the trial version of the Wii internet browser was available. So of course I downloaded it and tested it out. (19.3MB / 03:46) Problems? Watch the Flash version.

Home Movies: March 29, 1960 from kellybelly.net on December 14, 2006 498 views / likes
At Thanksgiving dinner, my grandmother handed me four 8mm film reels she had acquired from an old family friend years and years earlier. She had no idea what was on said film, but I have a projector and offered to take them home and view them. Turns out they were old home movies of my grandparents, mom, aunt, uncle and various friends and family, filmed during 1960 and 1961. We re actually guessing on the dates the boxes that the reels are in have a month/date written on them, and based on how old my aunt and uncle appear, we can approximate the year. I sent them all to Digital Transfer Systems (the first place a Google search gave me and oddly enough, out of Northbrook, IL) to be transfered to a MiniDV tape so I could eventually burn DVDs for the family. So here s the first reel, dated March 29th, 1960. This one is short the first half of the reel was blank. (12.2MB / 02:24) For those people who have problems downloading and/or viewing iPod-capable MP4 files, I ve placed a flash video behind the link below. Click on it. It looks like my Livejournal readers will have to click the there link at the very top of this post because good old LJ doesn t like the embed tag.

Another year closer to old from kellybelly.net on December 10, 2006 207 views / likes
I d like to thank everyone who helped me celebrate another birthday, and all of you who sent birthday wishes via Myspace or elsewhere. I had a pretty good weekend. Friday I went out to dinner at Joe s Crab Shack with Justin (of course), my sister Stacy and brother-in-law Rick, and my friends Lynn, Lidia and Jesse. Just to re-iterate Joe s is not my favorite restaurant, but I haven t been there in years and I wanted some crab legs. After dinner we came back home to play some video games. Rick really kicked ass at boxing on the Wii, and as usual Lynn and I rocked out on Guitar Hero. Saturday we went to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra at Allstate Arena. This wasn t a birthday thing, but our Christmas gift to my mom. If you saw that video last year, the one of that house decorated and synced to that song [link], you ve heard a TSO song. (11.1MB / 02:10) My mom had no clue we were going to the show all along I ve been telling her that Justin was taking me somewhere for my birthday and wanted her to come along. So she was very surprised when we got there and told her this was her Christmas present. After the show we went to Cheesecake Factory for dinner. As usual the margaritas were strong and the food was excellent. Aaaannnddd that s about it. It s going to be a laid-back day today. Tomorrow we re going to Chris and Bridget s to watch the Bears game.
