15th Annual Cycle-Smart International from aguynamedlogan on November 21, 2005 156 views / likes
11.21.05 The longest running cyclocross race in the country, and what an awesome race it is. Warm New England fall racing, you know? Last year I somersaulted the hole shot in the b race (scroll to the b race), this year I got 44th and one lap down. So my record here is pretty lousy, but it's always good times in Look Park. Big thanks to Rena for the shots, and Kris for the shouts. feat. Coheed & Cambria

11.15.05 The second day at Gloucester. How 'bout that weather we're having? The long sleeve skin suit was almost too much clothes on Sunday. No surprises really, just another day of hard ass racing on the right coast. feat. Zappa

11.2.05 The beloved second day on what was an epic weekend of racing. I was bummed that we couldn't race in the same park that this event was held in last year. But the new venue was pretty bad ass. Everyone thought it was going to be a fast grass crit. I don't know about any of you, but I couldn't ride that course fast. I crashed for the first time (during 'cross) and, even after three or four practice laps I was seeing question marks all over the place. I really love those courses where you can see every part from one standing spot. On this day that spot seemed to be the beer tent, 'cause when I got there both kegs were dry. BIG shouts to Lauri Webber and her beautiful, wonderful, amazing family for putting us up and putting up with us. feat. Underworld

Wooden Wheels at Granogue Cyclocross from aguynamedlogan on October 31, 2005 156 views / likes
10.31.05 I love the race on this dude's yard. It rained a little all day until just before the start of my race, then it started to pour. Riding on that course was entertaining. Being at the non-business end of things I do get to see a lot of amazing crashes. It has rained every Saturday since 'Cross began. I am listed as dnf but I totally finished. Trebon flew by me and I was pulled. He was seeing 2 laps to go, which is turning out to be my magic number, of laps anyway. feat. Blonde Redhead

10.30.05 I just raced the 2nd day at Gloucester. And with my 'extra' hour this morning I edited the Granogue video from last weekend. But it's big, and I wanna go out and drink. I made this video on Friday for someone interested in an IF, mentioned it to Tyler (builder of the bike) and he was like 'Put it up!' Check out the details, may take multiple viewings. feat. J Majik

Downeast Cyclocross, Wicked Maine Cyclocross from aguynamedlogan on October 21, 2005 75 views / likes
10.21.05 So, the cross weekend in Maine happened. At the start of Saturday's race it was raining and cold. Every fukin inch of the course was mud. Tyler and I had a giggle that we were even going to ride the track the way it was. Then he got 5th and I got 31st (out of 32 finishers). In the line up I was like 'What the fuck (am I doing here)?' I love bike racing, but it sucked. On Sunday I got as far as getting on my bike, dressed and numbered, riding around the parking lot, and then back to Jon's car. It started to rain again so I went to the building where registration was and took a nap through the A race. feat. Amon Tobin and CocoRosie

Portsmouth from aguynamedlogan on September 29, 2005 69 views / likes
9.29.05 I hadn't planned on racing that day, and I hadn't planned on racing on the road anymore at all. I went for a run in the morning, and when I got home I saw that Johs had called. All he had to say was Portsmouth Criterium and I was going. I put my left cheek right on to the pavement, right in front of a big crowd. I didn't think much of it. I walked around lovely Portsmouth, watched the race, drank coffee and was totally chillin, until I got back to Johs' house and saw the fuckin gash under my eye. Fifteen stitches later at three in the morning I was as good as new. And thus ended my 2005 road racing season. word. feat. 311

Green Mountain Stage Race, Voler Burlington Criterium from aguynamedlogan on September 26, 2005 114 views / likes
9.25.05 The Criterium at the GMSR has always kicked my ass. The first two years I raced it I didn't finish, and last year I finished by holding on for dear and precious life until it was over. This year I expected to suffer more than I ever had. But I didn't. At half way I realized that I felt pretty good and I started enjoying myself. I even moved up on GC, all said and done. Jake had been talking smack all weekend about getting to the last corner first on the last lap. He actually did it and got fifth, which if you know that course, is sick. Liz took video while we raced. I didn't really plan on racing on the road after this, but my plans are like chalk drawings on Seattle sidewalks. feat. Mice Parade

Green Mountain Stage Race, Sugarbush Mad River Road Race from aguynamedlogan on September 14, 2005 258 views / likes
9.14.05 So, day three (stage two) of the GMSR featured the empty results post from the previous day, some harsh DQs (while we were still neutral), a protest (sit in style!), and a one hundred and three mile road race that included climbs over three mountain passes. word. I made it to the second pass without incident, where, in the feed zone, I was dropped. I rode the remainder of the race by my self, in between the main field and a group of about thirty that dropped off at the first pass. I missed both my feeds and thank god Dave spotted me and chucked a brother a solid! else I would have been so ouchie. My leg started to cramp bad within the last 3 kilometers, which happens to be on that last mountain pass. I breathed like I was involved in the act of sex and got through it, finishing 80th. As pathetic as that sounds, I was psyched. I didn't budge on GC and I finished after riding alone half the day. Back at Jake's, Patrick and I polished off two bottles of wine and surfed myspace until we passed out. feat. The Books and Tabula Rasa

Green Mountain Stage Race, Sugarbush Chamber Circuit Race from aguynamedlogan on September 11, 2005 291 views / likes
9.11.05 The Circuit race was insane. The entire field was more or less well over the yellow line all day. Some guys were flipping out, some guys just seemed to be over the yellow the whole time. During the race I caught a peek at the motorcycle officials notepad and saw three columns of racer's numbers. Then there was a crash within a few hundred meters of the half way sprint. After that no one bothered with the yellow line, and the race official car drove in the left (oncoming) lane, behind the field, which was also traveling in the left lane, and honked the horn. This lasted for the last twenty minutes of the race. And when we passed the five kilometer sign, the field went curb to curb, full road, all the way to the finish. I coasted those last five on the tops of my handle bars, last wheel, next to the flipping out official car, which was an S4 and actually really nasty. Back in Burlington we strolled around the crit course and chowed on Church St.. Thanks Liz for the shots of the field. feat. The Books and Porcupine Tree

Green Mountain Stage Race, Egan's Big World Prologue from aguynamedlogan on September 10, 2005 255 views / likes
9.10.05 The muthufukin Green Mountain Stage Race, probably my last road competition this year and just about the hardest race on the calendar, mostly because of the course. Check out the stages. I always have a blast at this race, even though I have never done very well here. Vermont is so beautiful just before Fall, the whole state feels like it's filled with competitive cyclists and college girls. Nobody fakes it 'cause the race is so fucking hard, and at the tail end of most peoples season. Everyone seems to be relaxed and enjoying themselves. This year's GMSR on the other hand, was a soap opera (more on that later), except the prologue, which mostly went as expected and without event. I finished 78th which was encouraging, believe it or not. I didn't even know where I was going to stay until the day before the race. Patrick came through BIG TIME and hooked me up with his team mate Jake (with the shirt), and we three and Jake's sister Liz hung out all weekend. feat. Porcupine Tree

Blount Seafood Fall River Criterium from aguynamedlogan on September 06, 2005 303 views / likes
9.6.05 It was so hot in Fall River that day. You can see the haze. It was like racing a paved Cyclocross race. I made it to (I think) seven laps to go. There was a prime for some sunglasses and I positioned myself to go for them. I picked the wrong wheel and missed out, and it took the steam out of me. Just as I was picking my self back up I looked behind me to see the break and the lead car coming up on me. I spaced out on Crit. rules and, thinking I was going to get pulled, DNFed. Concord Criterium, Wells Ave from aguynamedlogan on August 25, 2005 282 views / likes
8.26.05 I love the Crit in Concord. Mike Jones showed up and everyone watched him attack and win. I love a guy who can win when the whole field is waiting for his move. Aaron Malloy is NH State Crit. Champ! I love that guy. Stan Jurga got 8th in his first race as a 2. And he gave me a ride there and back. Cambridge 1 for dinner, and Wells Ave for breakfast. feat. Fishbone

The 10th Annual MRC Sterling Classic Road Race part One from aguynamedlogan on August 20, 2005 399 views / likes
8.20.05 Sterling is an awesome race, usually taking place in the spring. It was moved on the calender due to road work and it felt strange racing the course in summer heat. Training the week before went well for me and I was psyched to mix and mash with the thirty or forty racers that were going to show up. feat Lynx
