I'd swear up and down that I'd seen Don Cheadle on... from vintage posts, anyone? on June 03, 2005 402 views / likes
I'd swear up and down that I'd seen Don Cheadle on Saturday Night Live many years ago. Right around when SNL lost its best cast members. Chris Farley, Mike Myers, Phil Hartman, et al. The show's quality dropped a lot, and here was this guy I was watching who I never thought was particularly funny. And when I saw "Traffic" I thought, hey, it's that guy from SNL. Don Cheadle's been in a bunch of movies that I've seen and actually liked, as well as movies that I hadn't liked. "Mission to Mars," "Boogie Nights," and his latest to hit cinemas across the country, "Crash." When I saw a making of for "Hotel Rwanda," the true-life story of . . . some guy who ran Hotel Rwanda in . . . um . . . the nineties . . . I thought, "wasn't this guy on Saturday Night Live? What's he doing here, in a serious movie?" I guess what would also explain "Traffic," which I loved in its gritty, drug-cultured world. I don't remember the dude in it, but I remember I loved "Traffic." I loved "Crash." He played a detective. This whole film revolved around five different sets of characters, and each story somehow would correlate with each other. Matt Dillon molested a woman and then saved her life the next day. Her husband almost got carjacked and then saved the life of one of the carjackers. Etc. I loved the movie. I only skimmed the article in Entertainment Weekly, but I knew I wanted to see the movie. Opening weekend came and I told my friends, let's go see the movie. Then I got sick or whatever and couldn't go. Today, since I found myself leaving early, I snuck into my local movie theater to enjoy this racially-motivated extravaganza. I'm not gonna bother telling you what it's about. If you care enough, you'll find out about the movie on your own. And if the movie appeals to you, you'll see it no matter what. It's that kind of movie.

star wars, erin, vlogging from vintage posts, anyone? on May 21, 2005 498 views / likes
Apparently I'm going to ditch all these live music plans to see Star Wars for free tonight, despite the fact that I had planned on waiting a couple weeks to see it, so I didn't have to deal with buying tickets or standing in long lines or sitting next to bad impressions of clone war soldiers. Then Ralph calls and I'm going for free. I think I'm having the best day ever and then Miss Mastermind informs me that she's going to a boxing match for free. Obviously I'm the one who's getting the cheap as free evening. update 5:42pm -- I lost my train of thought A film. Look at the lack of sleep under my eyes and listen to my bad impression of Cary Elwes.

i <3 the USA from vintage posts, anyone? on May 09, 2005 285 views / likes
I just learned about this cuz I don't read and I don't watch TV and pretty much live in a bubble, but apparently my favorite photographer EVER knew about this when it hit the news and even remarked the other day. It makes me a truly sad person to live in this coun -- WHOA no I take that back. It makes me a truly sad person to have to live under current administration. Maybe I'll boycott him by writing two U's next to each other from now on. by just typing in "imdb.com" or "google.com" or "ebay.com" or "adultactioncam.com" and forgetting the triple-tribute that usually prefaces website addresses. by just referring to my own site as "jasonvertucio.com" and maybe I'll draw black marks on his teeth on every billboard I see, too! Today will be a boring clothes day becaause I won't be wearing a yellow Meltingdolls t-shirt and red chucks. Nor will I try and kill myself. In other news, Ridor inspired me to make a video blog entry that relied completely on visuals, and not on sound. Wish me luck in this endeavour.

PINEAPPLES! from vintage posts, anyone? on April 09, 2005 318 views / likes
While we were in the Philippines in Borocay my brother took a video of me eating a pineapple. I didn't know that so I bit down into the thing and froze cuz that would have made a funny photo. The video was obviously much funnier. And in MPEG-4.

Yes, I did these while driving from vintage posts, anyone? on April 09, 2005 246 views / likes
(originally posted 31/3/05 at the old place) Fall Out Boy.mpg (4.15MB) And By The Way.mpg (7.30 MB) I don't really know what else there is to do on the way home. . . I mean, I could stop at the bar and get totally drunk but I need to write a resignation letter and go to a rock concert tonight. So, instead of getting drunk, I sing in the car. Updated commentary part: 9/4/05 I hopped into the car and pointed the camera at me and did that lip synching thing that Ashlee Simpson had done so well last year. "Grand Theft Autumn / Where Is Your Boy?" is from Fall Out Boy's Take This To Your Grave and you'll see "And By The Way (Will You Be There?)" whenever I bother to release Where All The Magic Happens.
