Just when you thought NASCAR would have no completion for craziness, case in point California when they sent race cars out on wet pavement and crashed a few cars in February. MLB decides to open their season in Japan at 6 AM eastern time! And then DirecTV has technical difficulties:Not everybody could see the Red Sox-Athletics baseball opener in Tokyo on Tuesday. Satellite TV provider DirecTV, in about 16.8 million households, said in a statement it had "temporary technical difficulties" during the game with "some channels" — including game coverage on ESPN2 and Red Sox regional carrier NESN. They'll try again Wednesday at 6 a.m. ETWonder if it was a Fox broadcast would this have happened? (Fox owns DirecTV)But I am just cranky because I am going through withdrawal from The Sprint Cup series having had their annual Easter break. All will be forgiven shortly as NASCAR comes to Martinsville this coming Weekend!A Good Ol' short track race will heal all wounds.

ZuD is always curious of who is and isn't a true NASCAR fan. Mr Patrick being the consummate interviewer makes it difficult to judge, but based on the rapport he has with some of these dudes, I would say he is. Interview by Eudie Pak Village Voice: What do you hope audiences will take away from your new documentary Beyond Wiseguys? What made you want to this project? John Turturro: I'd like audiences to realize that Italian Americans have been a major creative force behind-the-scenes in Hollywood since American movies began, and that their influence on American films isn't completely defined by writing, directing or acting in mob movies, although some of these movies are masterpieces and I'm proud of them too. I wanted to do this project because I feel very personal about my background. It's very important to me, both personally obviously, and professionally. I've directed and co-written a couple of things, and I've acted in many films, and who you are or whatever your emotional makeup is is part of your instrument that you have to play on and a lot of that depends on how you've grown up and what you've perceived, what you've been around physically or emotionally. You bring your background to what you do, and make art out of it, and this is what this film is about.
