Today was our first full day at SXSW. We spent most of it on the 4th floor of the convention center conducting interviews. We chatted with Blurb, Kyte.tv, iStockphoto, Utterz, and socialthing. One theme kept emerging - empowering individual media creators. Mainstream media no longer has a stranglehold on the dispersion of information. Whether it be television, radio, books, music or photography - there is a company out there that can help you make it happen on your terms.

South by Southwest Interactive is one of the largest tech industry events of the year, and there's certainly something for everyone. On our first day of coverage, we look to the show floor for the next "killer app" of the festival -- the one thing it seems no one can live without. And the judging continues into the evening with the Web Awards, where Veronica realizes she apparently knows far less about the Internet than she thought (either that, or these sites came out of nowhere...).
