And the GOP chairman candidate is Cuyahoga Falls Council member Carol Klinger.That's who state Sen. Kevin Coughlin and his group, the New Summit County Republicans, are suggesting as the replacement for Summit County Republican Party Chairman Alex Arshinkoff.The name of the candidate was revealed at a news conference at 2 p.m. today at the John S. Knight Center in downtown Akron.Coughlin, who has been leading a months-long effort to overthrow Arshinkoff, hadn't previously said who he'd suggest as the party's new leader. Rampant speculation leading up to today's news conference had several names mentioned, including Akron attorney Don Varian and Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Judge Kim Hoover.Coughlin, R-Cuyahoga Falls, is trying to unseat Arshinkoff by gaining a majority on the party's central committee. Coughlin has said he has the numbers with the results of the central committee contests in the March 4 primary. Arshinkoff and other party leaders, however, say Coughlin doesn't have the majority he needs.The central committee's organizational meeting will be scheduled after the Summit County elections board certifies the results of the March election, which will be done in mid-April.

Stan Hywet's artist-in-residence, P. R. Miller, is working with Firestone High School art students to create 100 flowers and a like number of bugs for an upcoming Spring display at the grounds. The students are using a wide variety of materials including a bowling ball, a discarded computer monitor, chicken wire and other "found objects" for their artistic creations.
