Your body moves the record from Bit Babble on September 01, 2007 258 views / likes
Vinyl Workout, by Theodore Watson is an audio/video floor projection piece that is interactive with how participants move on top of it. See Video of the piece in action. From the artist, "I designed this piece for the inaugural Rotterdam Electronic Music Festival. The idea is pretty simple. A giant record is projected on the floor and it can be played by running around its surface in the direction you want it to go. If you run slow the record plays slow, if you run fast the record goes fast etc.. Next version will have scratch mode." Additional interesting interactive works on the artist's website.

Watch the video documentation. "The Iso-phone is a telecommunications concept providing a service that can be described simply as a meeting of the telephone and the floatation tank. The Spoon Box by Nick Zammuto from Bit Babble on June 17, 2007 303 views / likes
Watch the documentation video. From Nick Zammuto: "I built this prototype of the Spoonbox out of wood, plexiglass, zinc plates, measuring spoons, and closeout radioshack parts. It hooks up to a CD player and small amplifier which cause the spoons to dance. There are small speakers behind the spoons that move in response to the sounds on the CD which I carefully composed using low frequency sine waves and kitchen sounds. The speakers, in turn, blow small puffs of air into the spoons which cause them to bounce/vibrate in rhythmic patterns." more...

One Free Minute by Daniel Jolliffe from Bit Babble on June 17, 2007 255 views / likes
Watch the documentation video. From Daniel Jolliffe: "What would you say, given one free minute of anonymous public speech? One Free Minute is a mobile sculpture designed to allow for instances of anonymous public speech. The principal intent of One Free Minute is to investigate how communication in public space has been, and can be, altered by technology. Whereas cellular phone technology has increasingly created mobile private spaces in the public realm, metering human interaction in billed by the minute increments, One Free Minute seeks to return the public soundscape to the voices of its callers."

Video projections from moving cars by Karolina Sobecka. Watch the video documentation. "Wildlife is an implementation of the speed-controlled mobile projection system I developed. Using a sensor on the car, the tiger's speed corresponds to the speed of the car. As the car moves, the tiger runs along it speeding up and slowing down with the car; as the car stops, the tiger stops also. A proximity sensor also adds other animated animals when the car is approached."

(In)Security Camera from Bit Babble on May 22, 2007 123 views / likes
An installation by Silvia Ruzanka. Watch the video. "The (In)Security Camera is a robotic surveillance camera with advanced computer-vision software that can track, zoom, and follow subjects walking through its field of view. Deploying sophisticated artificial intelligence algorithms in use today by the U.S. military and Homeland Security forces, it can assess threat levels in real time and respond accordingly. However, the camera is, in fact, a little insecure. Easily startled by sudden movements, it is shy around strangers and tends to avoid direct eye contact. This reversal of the relationship between the surveillance system and its subjects gives the machine an element of human personality and fallibility that is by turns endearing, tragic, and slightly disturbing."
