QT 62.5 MB 10'40 This is the last bit of footage from Blogher. How can African American and Latino bloggers report on issues ignored by the 6 o' clock news? Session 4 - Discussion with Nichelle Stephens of Brownbloggers.com, Laina Dawes, Gena Haskett, Marian Douglas, Liza Sabater and others. I felt it was very important to get some of the conversations up so we can broaden and continue the discussions in the blogosphere and offline. It is quite long so make yourself comfy. If you appear in the video and are not identified, please contact me so I can add a link here.

QT 14.6MB 2'35 This is my 50th vlog for 2005. The first one was Renegade Bike Ride. I wonder if I can do 100 vlogs this year? Ok, maybe it's not as strenuous as Ian's 05 Project, but I'm feeling the burn. I'm content about the content. It's translated into a universal language that hopefully everyone can understand. tag: videoblogging

QT 41.4MB 7'0 This is part 1 of my Blogher coverage. I have 4 sessions to go and a weekend to work on them. There was a lot of talk about the Technorati 100 and A-lists. Technotes: I had some Mpegs that were a pain to convert to mov. My renegade method of converting them: Re-photography! I videotaped them off the screen with an audio line-in to the camera. FYI - Mpegs edit fine in Windows Movie Maker.

Zadi Diaz and Josh Wolf, videobloggers, westside. I'm pretty tired and fried, but BlogHer was fun and I'm so glad I could be a part of it, knowing that many women were not able to be there. Being a live-blogger was intense and offered me a way to connect to the event in close way. Even though I didn't get to schmooze as much as I'd liked, I felt it was important to get the content up, to blog it and share it. It seems like a mission sometimes. I hope I could give some adequate coverage, and I look forward to seeing the coverage of the other sessions that I missed. I am looking forward to the podcasts, too, because that is where I'm going to get to the heart of the sessions - women speaking. As a videoblogger, I don't play into that battle of video vs podcasting. I think that there are so many tools out there for self-expression, why not use them all? I'll be updating the Blogher posts from yesterday with additional video material and links. It may take some time, bear with me. Feel free to comment, especially if you were at the panel - and add a link to your site! Thanks to Outhink for sponsoring me to go, Christian of Radio Free Blogistan for the ride, Michael for the zine, Miriam, Steve Rhodes, Markus and Josh and everyone else that helped make my day.

MPG Here's a clip of Ryanne setting up for the Video/Audiocasting session. I had to dart out and get another session but Zadi was there rolling tape, so look out for that. Today's clips are all straight-up, no editing, just to give you a flavor sampling of what went down at the sessions. Thanks to those Google kiosks I was able to upload and post today. I'll post some edited pieces of each session over the next few weeks, which will be very busy because of the YME Videoblogging Workshop. Busy vloggin' bees are having fun this Summer. tags: blogher, bloghercon, live-blogging

Archive.org - Links change!
from on July 28, 2005

I was trying to download some vlogs for my Meet the Vloggers presentation when I realized I couldn't see any movies that were posted to the Internet Archive, which is where most videobloggers post. All of those videos are offline now because IA is moving those machines to a new datacenter and should be back up and running in a better space by 1pm today. It brings to mind the usefulness of torrents, seeding and file-sharing of these video clips, so that the eggs are not all in one basket, so to speak. Update 7/28: And now the dreaded news: it looks like many of us vloggers hosted on the Archive will have to reconfigure our links. gasp! follow this format: http://www.archive.org/download/Title_of_Post/Title.mov torrents, p2p, filesharing
