Please keep Ed and his family in your prayers as he s got a long struggle ahead of him.

Appealing to the Masses from InterstellarOverdrive on July 09, 2008 117 views / likes
Great to be back after a three week absense and a whole lot of personal termoil. What better way to ease the pain than with music! We ve got a new band that brings the best of both worlds to the table: progski and a chick singer! That s right, Nemezis is a new band from Poland featuring Karolina Strużycka on vocals and I ll tell ya, this is a great album! Also on tonight s show are two tracks from the upcoming Frost* album Experiments In Mass Appeal , featuring the young Dec Burke on vocals (my thanks to you-know-who for securing these tracks for the show). Tonight s show is a bit short; I was a bit late getting home as I was in Chicago most of the day taking care of a personal matter. Listen to the show to hear all about it. Another Day Of Wonder... and change from InterstellarOverdrive on June 18, 2008 111 views / likes
Tonight s show is my last in my home of the past 6+ years. Chris, Anna, and I moved here in February of 2002, and our lives have seen the full gamut as Andy Tillison so aptly put it: joy, sorrow, accomplishment, elation, tragedy, sadness, frustration, but through all of it there has always been two overriding emotions that have held it all together; humor and love. When we moved here we didn t expect to be here this long. I thought we d be able to buy a house after a couple of years, but all that changed with one slip of a ladder. Chris recently got a place in Chicago closer to work. The frustration of fighting traffic for up to four hours a day finally got to be too much, and lately her job has become demanding to the point that all of her time was being spent doing work-related things. Until my work comp case is settled and Anna finishes junior college, I felt I need to stay close to home until all things here are settled. Only problem is my SS Disability isn t enough to afford to stay here, so I m going to be spending some time with my parents for a while. I m hopeful that when everthing is finally settled, Chris and I can buy an old house with a nice yard for Trooper and never have to move again. I m allowed to dream... New music on tonight s show! Carl Westholm of Carptree has a solo project called Jupiter Society and is joined by Declan Burke of Darwin s Radio. The album is called First Contact//Last Warning . We ve also got the 3rd album from fellow Swede s Brother Ape, this album is called, simply, III . And finally, after featuring the new album from Polish proggers Believe last month, we now bring you some bonus material from the special edition verision of Yesterday Is A Friend . Due to my impending move, we won t be broadcasting for the next two weeks. We ll return to the air on Wednesday, July 9 at 6pm EDT at ProgRock, the FIRST name in progressive rock! She also inherited a lot of pictures and documents from my great aunt when she passed away in 2000. Anyway, she called my tonight right at the end of my show and we have currently agreed to meet next Wednesday afternoon. I ve been working on hooking up with her for months, so I ll take what I can get, though it may interfere with my webcasting schedule. So, if nothing comes up between now and then to change our plans, I will not broadcast, or if I do it will be later in the evening. More on this next week.

Tonight we celebrate our 200th show. Special thanks to Shawn Gordon of ProgRock.com for hosting this show for the past 3+ years; to all of our faithful listeners, especially those of you who join us in chat every week; and to all of the podcast listeners around the world who download the show every week, tell me how much they enjoy it, and tell their friends about the crazy American with good taste in music. In honor of the special occasion, I thought it would be fun to pretend I ran my own prog fest. So, everything between the first and last song is my line-up: Friday is Chick Night, 3 bands led by female singers. 4 bands each on Saturday and Sunday. The show begins with a blast from the past by 60's Chicago rockers The Buckinghams, a song that is still relevant in these highly political times. Will prog for food from InterstellarOverdrive on April 09, 2008 240 views / likes
Between my rants about some of the band selections for this year's prog festivals and the damage being done to our favorite bands by music pirates, there's some really excellent music to be heard on tonight's show, so check it out (and if you like what you hear...BUY THE CDS! My next podcast will be #200, but I'm not exactly sure when it will be. On Tuesday the 15th, I'm having my 3rd back surgery (not counting numerous diagnostic and pain-relief procedures). Comedian Jerry Lewis actually had this same procedure done. The trial comes first, and it involves inserting two wire leads from an external control device into my back along the spinal column. The device sends electronic pulses through the wires which hopefully will interrupt the pain signals being sent to my brain. If it works and the trial is a success, I'll have another surgery and the system will be implanted internally and permanently, controlled by an external remote. It would also allow me to go off the morphine and other medications. I'm hoping to back on the air in two weeks, April 23. I'll be posting updates to the bulletin and blog on MySpace, so make sure you befriend "interstellarjoel". I'll also post to the Station Announcements forum of the ProgRock.com message board (ProgTalk Forum link on the homepage). In case you missed what happened after last week's show (and why you can't get the podcast); the short story is that Rob Reed of Magenta kindly asked that we take it down. He was not comfortable with the entire album being contained within the contents of the show, so we of course complied with his request. For more on that, see my Blog entry at MySpace (and comments that follow). Thanks to all for supporting the artists and the show. One more request: if you love what we do, please send a little financial love to our gracious host ProgRock.com. We recently had to buy a new server, and we also have monthly streaming costs. Any little bit will help, and if everyone who listens sends just a little, it'll all add up to a lot ( 1 = $2 these days). Just click the Donate (PayPal) button at the ProgRock.com homepage. My thanks in advanced for helping us do what we do. Here's tonight's playlist: Magenta - Metamorphosis Abel Ganz - The Dead Zone Pallas - The Cross And The Crucible Phideaux - Microdeath Softstar Simon Says - Brother Where You Bound? Merry Christmas! from InterstellarOverdrive on December 19, 2007 435 views / likes
Tonight's show features a few obligatory Christmas songs as well as a look back at some of the highlights (for me) of the year 2007. We've also got a premier of another track from the upcoming album from Anathema. Next week, December 26, will be the big annual countdown show. We've also got a short tribute to Dan Fogelberg, who passed away recently at the age of 56. Dan died of prostate cancer. Since a large portion of our audience is male, we want all of you, especially those of you over the age of 40, to schedule a physical, have the PSA blood test, and get a prostate exam. Prostate cancer is a very preventable, curable, and survivable disease if caught early. Give yourselves the gift of life this holiday season and get tested. Rest in peace Dan! And with that, tonight's playlist: Marillion - Seasons End (Live) Ad Infinitum - A Winters Tale David Gilmour - Echoes (Live) Marillion - Gabriel's Message (Live) Peter Pan - Days Satellite - Downtown Skyline TSO - Christmas Eve -- Sarajevo 12/24 Riverside - Parasomnia Iluzjon - Empty Fall Quidam - Depicting Colours Of Emotion ELP - I Believe In Father Christmas Anathema - Angels Walk Among Us Antimatter - Ghosts Phideaux - Crumble (Side 1) TSO - Christmas Canon TSO - O Come All Ye Faithful / O Holy Night The Reasoning - Within Cold Glass Mermaid Kiss - Walking With Ghosts Lana Lane - Lazy Summer Day Agua de Annique - Beautiful One The Unknownn - Blood Glass Hammer - South Side Of The Sky Dan Fogelberg - Part Of The Plan

Polska Kielbasa from InterstellarOverdrive on December 12, 2007 534 views / likes
Tonight's show features new music from two of Poland's very best progressive rock bands: "Into The Night" from Satellite; and "Alone Together", the latest from Quidam. Quidam - Sanktuarium Satellite - Into The Night Satellite - Dreams Quidam - Different Quidam - Kinds Of Solitude At Night Quidam - Depicting Colours Of Emotions Satellite - Downtown Skyline Satellite - Lights Satellite - Don't Walk Away In Silence Satellite - Heaven Can Wait Quidam - They Are There To Remind Us Quidam - Of Illusions Quidam - We Lost Satellite - Forgiven And Forgotten Satellite - Time Stands Still Satellite - Around The World Quidam - One Day We Find Quidam - We Are Alone Together Quidam - P.S. But Strong Together Collage - Eight Kisses Most prog fans are familiar with Satellite due to their Collage roots and connection to Marillion via their Mark Wilkinson album cover artwork. Quidam is probably a different story for many of you, but I've been proud to feature their music from the very beginnings of my webcast. Originally fronted by female vocalist Emila Derkowska, they came back stronger than ever after her departure with male vocalist Bartek Kossowicz and the album "surREVival", an album that saw many a Porcupine Tree comparison, but via the featured flute, still managed to keep their own identity intact. A live DVD and unplugged album followed, and now they are back. "Alone Together" is a strong album, one that should garner them much deserved attention from the prog world, and hopefully an invitation from an American festival promoter.
