Podcast Anniversary and WeaveZine!

This is the second anniversary of WeaveCast, and I wanted to do something special to mark the day. You know how in the Tapestry episode said I was working on a special project, and couldn’t wait to share it with you? Well, the wait is over! Today is the launch of WeaveZine, an online magazine for handweavers. It’s chock full of articles, projects, and reviews, there’s all kinds of weaving goodness going on. WeaveZine was something I dreamed up about six months ago, when I realized that there are just some concepts (like how-to articles) that are hard to do over radio. So I’ve been working hard to entice writers, and put together the infrastructure for WeaveZine. And now it’s ready for you! Check out WeaveZine on the Web at: www.weavezine.com Where does WeaveCast fit into this? Not to worry, I’m going to keep bringing you all the great interviews and personal weaving stories you’ve come to expect. WeaveZine just means there’s more online weaving to enjoy. Happy Valentine’s Day! Happy podcast-iversary! Thank you for two years of interviews, great shows, and all your support! —Syne Download the audio version of this announcement

My son's fourth birthday fast approaching, I asked him what he wanted for a present. I was imagining some addition to his Nerf arsenal, or a radio-controlled dinosaur or somesuch. He got a bright grin on his face and declared "a play structure!" You know, one of these: After a week of alternate suggestions, nothing could budge him. Every time we discussed it he'd say "all I want is a play structure." So Eric and I went here. And were appalled by the prices. I've bought cars that cost less. My husband who, since last years deck adventure, has become a believer in my "home-making" skills turned to me and said, "hey, those don't look hard. I bet you could build one for a lot less." Um, yeah honey. His birthday is a week away. But my son believes Mommy can do anything. And everytime we talk about the playset he is supremely confident that it will be ready for his party on Sunday--two days away--even though right now his playset looks like this: So I'm taking a break from madly editing for the June podcast, and working for the rest of the week to make my little boy's dream come true. The June podcast, Weaving Periodicals, is shaping up nicely, I've got three great interviews, a summer reading list, and a tale of summer romance. It'll be up in a week or so. Thanks for your patience! Syne
