In this edition of Wake Up Calls, the Web-TV Show bringing attention to Canadians about controversial issues that are not covered in the corporate media, genetically modified food is examined. At the Vancouver Public Library, on July 4th, 2008, a speaking tour presented by The Society For a G.E. Free BC featured 4 speakers on genetically modified food, one of whom was Percy Schmeiser. Percy Schmeiser is the Saskatchewan farmer who fought a legal battle with Monsanto in regards to genetically modiefied Canola seeds that had blown onto his fields and he was sued by the multinational corporation. His story and a great deal of information unknown to the general public about genetically modified food is shared here. The event was sponsored by Greenpeace, Mountain Equipment Co-Op and Common Ground magazine. Conscious Planet sponsored this episode of Wake Up Calls being produced.
