Knuckles goes to meet Hawk, a human he met who claims to have the Red Chaos Emerald. However, Knuckles must contend with several mobsters first, then the threat of both Rouge the Bat and the robot E-91: a "kunoichi", or female ninja (The Lady Ninja in the dub). She kidnaps Hawk. Knuckles saves Hawk. Rouge steals Chaos Emerald. E-91 tries to stop her. Rouge drops the emerald and she escapes. Knuckles and Hawk grabs the emerald and defeats E-91.
